Happy Mother’s Day.
I actually don’t have any “mom gun stories “ but surely there are a few here. Whenst I was 15 my 2 best buddies were getting shotguns to go bird hunting so I naturally wanted one too. We were “city” people and none of our dads hunted. Long story short….mom didn’t like the idea of her baby boy (me) having a gun. Mom kind of ran the show at our house but thankfully dad put his foot down and took my money down to the neighborhood gun shop and bought me the used Mossberg 500 I had picked out. That 30” full choke barrel was obviously a bad choice for a kid with zero instruction and I went through a bunch of cheap target loads banging away at doves before I finally got the hang of it. I started reloading to shoot on the high school trap team shortly thereafter. Mom was more than a bit concerned I would blow up the house with all that gun powder in my bedroom but dad prevailed on that issue as well.
Mom & Dad went to there rewards 8-9 years ago. The old house was still standing when they sold it in 88’ and the Mossberg has since been shortened to 19 inches.
Happy Mothers Day
