Model 51 Round butt or square? Not that I would sell it but I think I have a round butt that doubles the value.

Please show a picture of the entire revolver without the stocks.
I would like to see a model 51 round butt myself.
The pictures are nice and the numbers look cool.
Tommy, are you still out there? Lots of us want to see a RB 51. Show it, even if it's a SB.
.22mag out of a 16-18 inch barrel is one of my favorite walking in Penn's Woods gun. .22 in a 4" revolver I stick with CCI speciality Lr loads
I've picked up three "kit guns" over the years........ two 34s a round and square butt and a 63 round butt. The 64 competes with a 3" 60-10 for ED woods carry!

I own an excellent condition example round butt Model 51 #548XX. Odd thing is it wears a flat latch cylinder release whereas the Guns International example sports a conventional shaped release and the two guns are only + or - 100 digits apart. I never dreamed this gun would realistically approximate $4500 value. Is this accurate or just a "pie against the wall" figure to see what sticks?
Personally I don't think it will realize $4500, but we shall see. My 51, SN: 1109092 is the standard SB w/standard thumb latch and is in pristine condition. No idea what it would bring on the open market. I recently bought a first yead 4" 48 also in pristine condition, that I paid $1150, but it's a K frame of course. A RB 51 would round out my kit gun collection but I would not pay $4500 fo one.

Sources (Supica/Nahas) say "approximately six hundred" Model 51s were manufactured as round butt versions. No mention of the total number of Model 51s, which were introduced in 1960, and dropped from the S&W line in 1974.

Putting it in perspective, $4500 would just about put the round butt Model 51 in pretty much in the same category as a pristine 5 screw 44 Magnum with box and accessories. I wouldnt think the S&W collecting fraternity would view these two guns on an equal footing value wise, especially with so many collectors chasing early .44's, although it only takes one motivated well heeled buyer to make it happen so who knows? Time will tell!
I guess I'm stuck with the 51 I bought in 1970 for $300.

Here is my trio of 51's. Nickel, RB & SB. I have the boxes and papers, too.

Just curious. What do you think about that $4500 sticker price?
Nice bunch. But, you planted the germ of a very dumb idea ( I seem to get a lot of them). How about creating a forum called, “Let’s Ask the Missus” for questions just like yours. I would love to hear answers like, “$4500 would re-tile the bathroom”, or “My sister’s husband just got laid off”, Spouse’s opinions could add a lot of depth and color to our hobby’s total discussion. How about it, Moderators? 
I think $4500 is high for the RB 51 if I was buying. It is pretty crazy on some of the prices I have seen in the last few years.

I paid $225 OTD for mine in 2016 at a local pawn shop. It's well used but probably the only one I'll ever find locally. I think it's a first year (1960).
