I'm approaching it a little differently than just posting pictures of my favorite Model 629 and I hope it is an appropriate manner in the way that I’m doing it.
Many of you know that we lost the great Roy G Jinks last Wednesday and the author of the story you’re about to read is Richard “Dick” Metcalf who was a writer and an editor for shooting times magazine passed away in 2023, but these two men were a big part of the driving force behind the development of the Model 629 stainless steel 44 magnum.

So please read the article and then let’s post those pictures up as a tribute to these two great men along with all the others that were involved!

What a fascinating insight on the "birth" of the 629! It would seem that a "remake" of that model to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the USA would be in order but, it is probably a little late for that at this point in time.
 
It took me a few to find them, but here are the other four 629s.

I thought I had the boxes and guns in order, but it didn't post that way.

629-2 Classic Hunter. I purchased new for my Dad. Still N.I.B.. HIS Great-Grandson, gets to shoot it first.:)

HAPPY 629 DAY! Mine are both 629-5 models, a Classic DX and 4" with combat grips. They both are great shooters but, the DX is in a class by itself and spends a lot of time with me during deer season with one buck on its list so far.
