We have a couple threads on the antique side of the forum comparing box label and design changes throughout the production run.
I collect mainly 38 and 32 New Departures and Double Actions, but I wanted to document the 32 HE boxes since they are the same as the 38 ND.
There are two first model boxes(6”, and 4.25”), four second model(3.25” and 4.25”) and not pictured is a two piece red post war box. I noticed there is a variance in length and width from box to box leading me to believe they were hand made.
One of the second model boxes has a sweat warning labeled over the distributor added MOP warning label. This is the first time I’ve seen S&W paste over the base label. I believe at least one box has a serial number added. If anyone has any serial numbered boxes for this model please post a photo of the end label, directions, and warning labels.
