The squadrons had their equipment/shipping grates stored outside the hangar across an access road. One day we got an order to move the grates about 20 feet to the north. When we nearly finished job we were told to move them back to their original position. That's the one thing I really disliked about the Corps, busy work.
We needed to ship a piece of hardware. We didn't have a suitable box but the squadron that shared the hangar did. As we were moving various boxes around a Major stopped and asked us what were doing. We explained that we needed a particular box and he joined us in moving a couple. When we got the one we needed, the Major left and we took the box back to the hangar. We than painted over the stuff that needed to be changed. I guess you do what you gotta do.
We stole a transmitter from the Navy too. Even had the guard help us remove it from the plane.

Marines "taking/borrowing" equipment from other Military Service has been taking place since 1775. If a BAR soldier wants to keep his weapon, KEEP IT TIED TO HIS PERSON or plan your BAR becoming part of the USMC. (they will also steal your girlfriend)

Enough parts got liberated from our Group Supply that we could almost build another A6. When they figured out that things were "redistributed" after one of my visits to the warehouse, I was accompanied whenever I showed up. It was the only way we could keep most of our aircraft in an "up" status.

Regarding above, there is a dividing line in PA .
Eastern PA it's a soda, hoagie, sneakers. Western PA it's a pop, sub, and tennis shoes.
And then it gets into subdivisions.
No real Eastern PA'er would ever allow lettuce, tomato, or mayo on a cheese steak. I have seen this abomination in Pittsburgh, I love that city, but may the Lord have mercy on their souls for that desecration.
Ditto hot Italian hoagies. Pittsburgh had them in the 1980's. I know Jersey Mike's pushed them earlier this year, but they're a chain and call them subs and have no real claim to hoagies as Eastern PA'er know them. Again, going back to the 80's
There are 3 things that PA does better than any other state. Hoagies, Cheese Steaks, and pretzels.
And I will die on that hill.
