Unfortunately, I think Skip resigned his membership here. He used to be active at the Pro-Guns forum so you might try there.

I thinks it's time for everyone involved to step back and take a deep breath, It's just a forum and sometimes personalities clash. There are far more important things to worry about.

Hope it all works out.

Now, anyone want some Milk and Cookies?

Andy, Roy,

I'm still here. Lee must not have seen my request yet!

Roy, I got your voice mail and am headed out. I'll be busy for several hours. I sent you a pm with an email.

What length did you decide on for those bullets I sent? 1.250" or so?

I talked with Skip earlier. He said he has been banned. He can no longer even see the forum.

So yes, Skip is still out there, but he isn't on this forum anymore.

He will be missed...

In a moment of a hasty decision he asked to have his account/membership terminated. Being banned from the forum I’m not certain of that. Unless there was privileged communication that we have no knowledge that’s the way it went.

He will be missed true.

I called him and sent a e mail but have not heard back.

Banned? I sorta read the "hot" thread, but unless he sent some really bad PM's it all seems very sad to get this bent out of shape over a post in a gun forum.

I am sure he didn't send any "bad PM's". That is just not Skip. But he did say Banned and that he can't see the forum, so I don't know. In his profile all I see different really is that the contact info has been removed.

But the truth is Skip didn't want to be on the forum anymore. Not so much because of something that was said in A post but because of a perceived downturn in the quality of the forum. A perception that many share. Most of us can think of many good people that don't participate anymore. That is our loss.

But if participation in a forum gets where it is more trouble than it is worth or if it results in being upset whats the point? Life is too short and there are many other things to do. Some unpleasantness in life must be endured, but this isn't one of them.

That's a shame. I always enjoyed his posts. His enthusiasm for casting his own bullets and the great casting videos he posted here were two primary reasons I just purchased casting equipment and started casting my own bullets.

I just got off the phone with him and it is exactly as you state above.

Too bad for the forum as he has a lot of practical knowledge to share. I for one have learned much from him and will continue to elsewhere and by other means.

Sounds a tad immature to allow one jerk to ruin your time on a forum.

I have read some of his stuff. Seems knowledgeable enough.

He did seem to care about "newbies". In a day and age when most folks only care about themselves, that was a bit of fresh air!

Best to him as he moves on!

smith crazy asked me in a PM to remove his account.
I responded with the statememnt that I could do that, and asked "What's wrong?".
His reply was that it was simply time to move on.

He was not "Banned" in the true sense of the word. You will notice that 'Banned' is not beneath his name. Generally speaking, the software offers the ability to have an account be active or disabled. We don't have multiple options like 'moved on', 'resigned', 'on hiatus', or 'vacationing'. Active or Disabled.
Granted, a disabled account apparently sees the same thing a regular Banned account sees.

I thought I had disabled his account a few days ago, but I apparently screwed it up and failed to do so. Per his request, I did disable it yesterday.

Whether you realize it or not, we are reluctant to ban people. Most folks, with the exception of bona fide trolls, are offered a chance to conform to the standards of the board. Some have been offered multiple chances.
Likewise, we hate to see old members move on, but I have never believed I could please all of the people all of the time. When a member becomes discontented enough to ask for the account to be closed, I eventually comply, because by then we probably have a pot that will eventually boil over.

Speaking in general here, NOT about smith crazy or anyone else in particular-
I don't see the point in getting so wound up in forum posting that one cannot treat people with normal courtesy, and ignore people you don't like and will probably never lay eyes on or even swap emails with. If you learn to use the "IGNORE" feature in your User CP, keep your posts non-personal, and quit worrying about what "They" are saying about you, you can effectively make an unliked personality cease to exist.
Trust me, if I was thin-skinned, I would have quit the second day after taking over.

We don't ask much of you here, beyond-
common courtesy, including normal consideration and respect for differing opinions.......
a 'clean' atmosphere suitable for mixed company.......
a reasonable attempt to keep the peace, even when disagreeing.....(kinda like not being allowed to "verbally" punch, stab, or shoot other members)
Don't immediately apply the worst possible interpretation to a rather vaguely worded post. You have probably needed that 'benefit of the doubt' extended to you once or twice in life.

If you interact within those parameters, your participation here is pretty much as enjoyable or as stressful as you decide it will be.
If participation here is stressful, perhaps the problem does not lie in the software or the board management. You won't change the world here. I seriously doubt you will change many minds already predisposed toward any certain philosophy.

After speaking with Skip today on the phone, I concur with what Lee has posted above. I do not think he will mind me saying, as he is that kind of guy, he felt it was his issues and not that of any other person(s).

He felt it was things that he had to work on himself and no bad feelings towards the forum or any member.

Thanks Lee for clarifying the situation.

Lee, I appreciate you taking the time to explain why Skip can't see the forum anymore. I already knew that he wanted to quit the forum, but I thought he might like to view it sometimes.

Sometimes I don't feel like participating so I don't. Later I feel like participating so I do. It's that simple. It can be done easily enough without asking to be deleted. Forever solutions to temporary problems can fix your problems but it still isn't always the best way.

I especially appreciate your reminding members of the IGNORE feature. I have used it more than once and it sure does work fine. And no I don't go take a look-see to see what the other person said. Ignored people do not exist anymore. Not on this screen. The forum is for all members, but this computer was bought and paid for by me. My computer has a lot of buttons and it connects me to many good features on this forum. Like the IGNORE button. It would be a shame not to use all of the features. Now if I could just learn to read all of the language translations offered at the top of the page. (LOL)

At any rate I do wish Skip well. He is a knowledgeable handloader and a fine Christian gentleman. He will surely be missed on this forum.

Default Logic here

Logic here says than Skip was so active, concerned and helpful that something set him off to leave, not something casual. There is no other answer. I hope that he can resolve the issue cus I sure miss his inputs and I'll bet he misses the opportunity to help as well. Skip, keep an eye open.

It's sad to see Skip moving on. Skip is a friend. In 2 years since joining this forum, I grew accustomed to his knowledgeable, honest and good natured posts.

Skip, I wish you well. You will be missed.

I don't know Skip personally, which I feel is my loss. I also feel his knowledge of reloading was very obvious and his leaving will be every ones loss.

I've noticed a phenomenom on other forums that I visit and I have to wonder if Skip fell victim to it. Hopefully it won't be as rampant here as some of the others.

Lee, this is not a suck-up, but I think this is a great post/perspective. I think you should consider placing it as a 'stickey' on the various forum categories, and should be 'required reading' for all people that earn a 'warning...'

I did not know about the ignore feature; learn something new every day. It does not happen much, but without knowledge of the 'ignore' feature, I have just tried to step back and not respond when provoked by over-the-top responses to posts. Sometimes it is frustrating having someone pop-off at you over the internet, but I believe taking the high road is more rewarding than getting down in the mud over such things.

As for Skip, he does seem to be a guy that is truly concerned about other people (and their safety...), and he does have very sound knowledge of reloading. His personality may not match up with everyone, but his heart is in the right place. I hope he comes back when he's ready.

Again, thanks for the thoughtful response; this is why this is such a great forum.

So does anyone know if Skip is hanging out anywhere else?

I just got done reading a reply to a post I made in the Lounge, the first one since the new server in fact. It was one of those "I don't care what facts you can prove, I was told by someone years ago..." postings that I just refuse to get into. So anyway, I sign off and am looking at an ad for "single Muslims in your area"! I know I'm over reacting, and I have absolutely nothing against Lee or this forum because it's the best I know of, but the ads that come with it are just a little too much sometimes. Not to mention the keywords that I see posted at the end of some threads. Yes I know it's my fault too for not always signing in and seeing that face imbedded in one of my posts, I have learned to make sure I don't put a post at the top of the page. Again, I know Lee has no control over these issues, it's part of the server, but I need a little vacation.

O.K. I'm calm now, breathing normally, blood pressure back to normal.

I guess before I go looking for Skip though, I should find out if I was part of the reason he left. I feel sort of guilty.

Ad's at the top of the page are definitely not chosen by the forum owner. The best thing to do with stuff like that is ignore it.

Now as you say, you are breathing normally and the blood pressure has returned to normal which means you really don't need to leave the forum. Too many are gone now. Take a day or two off and come back. Participate when you feel like it and read when you don't.

Jellybean I do talk with Skip frequently. He did not mention your name as a reason for his leaving the forum. It is a fairly complex issue, one I am not entirely at liberty to speak of. What goes in my ear does not come out of my mouth or appear on the internet. Skip is my friend regardless of whether he comes back to this forum next week or if he never comes back. I want to make sure I continue to hold that friendship.

BTW Skip is around on a few forums. One of them was mentioned earlier in this thread....

acl864, Thanks for the PM.

OCD1, Hoptob and Dennis 40X, I'm sorry I didn't see your PMs until I went to read acl864s. I thank all of you also.

NKJ nut, thanks. I know we all have problems and issues to deal with and I usually don't let things bother me that much. It's quite painful for me. This is the place I usually come to to relax and if I hadn't violated several of my own personal 'internet forum rules' everything would have been alright.

I noticed a post in the thread where Skip left that got me pretty irate, and it was intended for him, not me. But I started to wonder if it was an ongoing attack and my abusing him in an earlier thread, in fun, was just another finger in his eye, so to speak.

In regards to the rest of your post, you are both lucky to have each others friendship, it would be hard to find two finer gentlemen.

And if either of you ever want to meet some single muslim women in your area I can help you out.

I'll have to pass on that one. My wife would kill me whether the woman was Muslim, Hindu or Baptist.

I believe I can safely decline for Skip too

Jelly,
That is one of the funniest things I think I have ever read!

As for the type of ads that get run on the forum, one fellow told me once that they were generated from a "key word" that was found in a thread.

I don't know if that is how it works here but maybe there is a thread about M U S L I M W O M E N here. Probably in the lounge!

From all that I read here, Skip is a fortunate fellow to have this many folks genuinely care about him.

BTW-
I don't have a good grasp on the "Delete my account" Philosophy.
When I used to tire of a bar, I'd just start hanging out at another one. Never did burn any down.

But, back to the point- if Skip wants his account reactivated at some future point, just let me know. It is still there.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

That's my philosophy too Lee, that's how I came here. I was hanging out at a forum that got to the point that I had most of the active posters on my "ignore" list. I came back here for a year before going back to see if it cleaned up any. It was worse, with some of the moderators being the worst offenders. The other moderators did nothing to stop the bickering, back stabbing, personal attacks and insults and profanity.

I am still a member though, just in case they all grow up. Or die, which ever comes first.

I am blaming it on the ArchangelHS6 guy. All the evidence is there. A guy tries the miracle powder and POOF he disappears in a cloud of smoke.

BTW Treeman yes you could be next. Don't risk it. Pour that stuff on the garden, make roman candles with it or whatever but don't load it.

Seriously I have talked with Skip about the possibility of him coming back. At least he is aware that the option exists. Whether it will ever happen or not is anyone's guess. I do not believe his leaving was a spur of the moment decision but something he had been thinking about for a while. So if he wants to return that wont be on a whim either.

Or maybe you could just send the HS6 to Skip. If it POOFed him away... maybe it can POOF him back. If that doesn't work maybe we can start another "discussion" about "THE LOAD". If that doesn't bring him back into the fray I'm not sure anything will
