Primers Galore!
... By the way, wasn't that the name of a character in a James Bond novel?
On topic:
I just returned from a local gun shop where they have, in quantity, large and small, pistol and rifle, magnum and standard primers. First time I have seen this anywhere in almost a year and a half.
BTW, small pistol standard primers are $44.99 / 1,000.

JackFlash,
At $44.95/M they can hold on the primers for a long time.I just purchsed some from one of the on line suppliers for a total cost of less than $30/M. One has to order at least 30M to spread the cost of shipping and hazmat fees. I would urge people to order in bulk and be patient - my order took almost 4 months before delivery.

They are still hard to find in Mass, the local shop had plenty of Large Rifle for standard, Winchesters for $35 per 1000
They seem to have one type at a time.

Even though I could use some small pistol standard primers, I passed on the $44.99/k ones. I am just getting used to $30/k. Nevertheless, you couldn't beg, borrow, or steal small pistol primers until recently, so some folks are probably willing to pay any price. I too plan to wait for prices to return to earth.

I agree that the prices have gone nuts but I'm just happy to be able to get them again. Realisticly, The difference between a $25 box of primers and a $35 box of primers is one cent per round ( 50 cents per box of 50). $6/box for relaods still beats the snot out of $25/box for factory, IMHO.

I went back today and saw that they got in some CCI Standard Small Pistol Primers for $39.99/k. I caved and bought a thousand.

Glad to hear the primers are on the shelves...I bought 5k CCI Small Pistol Mag primers a month ago for $115/5k or $23/1k (plus tax)
...you need a C&R to buy them at dealer prices...
But at 45.00/1k...he's pushing a nice 100% mark-up. That's pretty rich.
Like many have suggested, it can be a bit less costly to place a bulk order and wait a bit.

I will just shoot more rimfire for a little while longer. Prices of ammo and primers are starting to come down in this area. Patients is a virtue.

Good morning
If you check some Wholesalers primers are available for under $30. Or you can just be patient as the price is slowly falling.

You guys don't realize how good you have it. We're paying $45.00 per thousand for primers here in the local gun shop in Southeast Alaska, and $39.00 a pound for powder. Living here it is VERY expensive to order primers or powder for ones self, so we just bear the price. We can't get primers or powder by UPS or FedEx because there are no roads that come here, so they won't deliver them to a southeast Alaska address. Everything comes in by air or by water. To order primers myself I would need to have them delivered to a barge company in Seattle and have them come up by barge with a hazardous materials charge tacked on. To make it economical, I'd have to order many thousands of primers, and many pounds of powder... more than I could use in twenty years. The gun shop orders powder and primers in bulk and has them come up by barge. We grudgingly bear the price. The local trap club does buy shotgun powder and primers to resell to members. If I can plan ahead, I can save some money by tacking my handgun and rifle powder and primer order onto the trap club's order. They only bring in a shipment about once a year, however. There are some disadvantages to living in Alaska that one has to live with.

We're finally starting to see some primers available here in south central Utah, $35 for 1000 CCI small pistol and $40 for large pistol , I've still got some and will also continue shooting rimfire until this madness ends.

I stopped by the same store again today.
The shelves are now packed with primers. Here's hoping it stays that way and prices begin to moderate.

My local shop doesn't have all the primers the OP talks about but he is getting 5000 of each SPP, LPP, SRP and LRP a week and his prices are much better @ $28.99/1000 for pistol primers and $29.99/1000 for rifle primers. The dealer is limiting everyone to 1000 of each a week so they get passed around a little better. Now, I'm not saying that's "cheap" but it's much better than $44.99 without a doubt. (BTW, local Gander Mountain is charging $4.99/100 with no discount for buying 1000)

I believe that was Miss Puzzy Galore! Not sure of the spelling.
