Sierra 5th edition has a section specifically for 45 acp revolvers, which appears to include the 625. It has 240 jhp going to 1100 fps from a 7.5 in barrel. If picking a bullet would consider the 255 lrnfp dropped from a Lee mold.

Speer had a 250gr .452 DEEP CURL JHP (some said identical to their Gold Dot?) that was supposedly a good hunting bullet, with load data for 45 Colt using ACCURATE #5.
ACCURATE also lists load data using #5 for 45 acp using 2 different plated 250gr bullets. The velocities listed are really pretty close.
I've loaded this bullet for both calibers (45 Colt & 45 AutoRim) and am informed Starline Brass in 45 AutoRim is as robust as their 45 Colt product, along the lines of their 44 Magnum product. So...
If the bullet expands per the Speer factory data @ "×" velocities out of a 45 Colt case it ought to do the same at "x" velocities out of a 45 AutoRim case. I would think...?
I am waiting to hear back from Speer as to the velocity needed for this bullet to reliably expand. Load data for 45 AutoRim would just be icing on the cake...
Cheers!

Speer's discontinued factory .45Colt load with that bullet went about 800fps and was supposed to expand. I had a little of this ammo stockpiled and some times keep a S&W Mountain Gun loaded with it because I trust the load and it should allow for fast follow up shots...........

If you could, please see if you still have the box for that ammo: I'm interested in what fps they claimed when they marketed it as a Deep Curl factory hunting round?
The current Speer 45 Colt 250gr GDHP amo is listed at 750 fps. Alliant load data shows 7.8gr Unique at 840 fps for this bullet in 45 Colt.
Getting 800 fps in 45 AutoRim using the ACCURATE #5 load data for 250gr plated bullets seems safely obtainable.
Cheers!

The boxes say Gold Dot
personal protection
45 Colt 250gr GDHP
23984
They are put up in nickel cases with a Speer HS and lightly crimped. 20rnd boxes and the lot # is D03Q41 the 0 might be a C.
There is specially loaded to law enforcement standards talk on both sides and industry warnings on the bottom.
No velocity markings. They were first rumored and I think listed by folks like Midway to be 850fps.
Later the Speer site said 750fps but insiders inquired and were told they will do about 800fps and someone on the Ruger site went to an event and was able to fire some into Gel and chrono them. Got a little over 800 and good expansion from his Vaquero 4 5/8". This made me feel better since I had bought 100rnds '5 boxes'.
I bought some Deep Curl 250gr bullets, 2 boxes of 50 from Midway then this mess happened and no components are available. They look exactly the same.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Yes it is a Zombie thread but several folks here are interested in S&W N-frame Revolvers chambered in .45acp and like to discuss the loading of same...........

THANKS!
Thanks, ddixie884! Always thought this might be a viable alternative to the typical hardcast. Looks like the ticket for the 45 AutoRim.
Hope components come your way before you run out of your factory fodder.
Cheers!
P.S. re: the ZOMBIE THREAD, it may be a bit early, today is only Good Friday!

That .45 Auto Rim 32 B load at 1200 fps looks very promising, and they even tried it in the S&W model 1917.Perhaps it might suffice for black bear.
Regards, Ray

Not to beat a dead horse (or a Zombie Thread?), Western Powders has loads in 45acp & 45acp +P for two different 250gr plated bullets in True Blue, #5 & #7...
The Deep Curl and 825+ fps ought to do the trick!
Cheers!
P.S. Get'em while you can!

If you like to roll your own check out Rimrock cast bullets, they supply Buffalobore with many of their cast bullet offerings, though just buying them already loaded from BB is a great alternative too.
I just bought some of the Deer Grenafe 44mag SWC bullets and some of the 357 cast hollowpoinys too from Rimrock, cant wait.
