I know Berry's sells what appears to be an excellent plated bullet @ ~ 13-14 cents each, in lots of 1,000.

Are there better/cheaper sources ?

Thanks !!

I believe direct from Berry's is the cheapest way to purchase them. The only way I can get them cheaper is through Cabelas with points from my Cabelas card. I've been happy with the quality of Berry's plated bullets, would go to lead but given previous history with cancer, I am hesitant.

Berry's bullets are a great choice, another would be Montana Gold projectiles. I have fired many thousands of MG and have been very pleased.

Direct from Berry's should be the cheapest way. As you shop around, keep in mind that you get free shipping from Berry's for orders over $50. Also, you aren't paying sales tax unless you live in Utah. That brings the price down significantly for a bulk order.

Yes. Powder Valley, Inc. has the best prices I've seen on Berry's bullets, and they only charge actual shipping, rather than an average generic shipping charge built into the price of the bullets.

Depending on where you live Power Valley can be quite a bit less expensive.

I deal with Midway a lot, and they love me enough to offer me substantial savings once in awhile, i.e., Birthday Savings. If I combine my Birthday Deals with bulk purchasing and free shipping, I can get the price down to about ten cents a head for the Double-struck 45's. Needless to say, when I get those kind of deals, I buy a LOT of bullets. Not sure how that compares to buying direct from Berry's, but it's a much better deal than I see all year!

The issue I have w/ all plated bullets is their cost. They are all more than true jacketed from Precision Delta or case lots from MontanaGold. Nothing wrong w/ plated, but they should really be between lead & jacketed in price & currently that isn't true.

Ranier are about as good and I think they are just a tad cheaper. If you want cheap bullets, check out my thread here about "Range Lead".

Can't get any cheaper than FREE! JUST SAYIN'!

Nothing against Precision Delta but I really wish someone would walk me through an order and getting it cheaper than plated.

230gr 45acp Precision is 108.50 for 250
230gr 45acp berry plated is 84 for 500
230gr 45acp X-treme plated is 73 for 500

I have seen so many most saying full metal jacket from precision is way cheaper. I am not being a smart a_-, seriously would someone help me determine how. Even if I order a lot of 2000 the price gap gets wider.

Well you do have to order 2K to get the best price & free shipping. Hey, they don't go bad. If you are buying in small quantities, you are not saving much money reloading. Plus your prices are incorrect. PD gets $119/1K!!
http://www.precisiondelta.com/product.php That would be about 29% cheaper than plated.

You're looking at the evaluation packs of loaded ammo for $108.50, not the bulk bullets. Look at the bulk 230 RN here for $119 per 1000 (or $59.50 per 500 in your table) Precision Delta - Competition Ammunition Shipping on 1000 is only $5.00

Berry's 230RN are $128 per 1000 at TJ Conevera's, the X-Treme are $121 per 1000.

Bottom line for 230RN, Precision Delta is less than the cost of Berry's and only a couple bucks more than the X-treme.

Thank you very much John I guess I have been looking at the wrong prices for some time :) oooops.

Fred I always order in bulk unfortunately for me it is always something I can't use those bullets as they have exposed lead base. Well I can't use them in the winter time the indoor range does not allow it. The outdoor range during the summer I may give them a try.

Some have said how will the range master know. Well I know others are doing it and I don't want to add to the extreme cost of replacing 5k range filters more often, which the price only gets past down to me anyways through range fees.

Thanks fellas
If you need lead safe bullets, then you have to pay what you have to pay. I would look to TJCON for Xtreme 200gr plated.
X-Treme 45 200gr RN Plated Bullets 1000 Count

Without putting anymore logs on the fire here about berry's...they are last on my list. have had two lots from them and atleast i can say is poor..overall. Scored some older rainer and they were great! Would try again if a good deal presented itself. But for 45 i have using PowerBond...230 gr RN plated and the thickest and most consistent plating, I have come across. These by far are the nicest for the price.Consistent as hornady FMJ! I have loaded up some hot rounds with some Bullseye and they performed flawlessly and accurately up to 50 yds for me! Now..price $66/500 shipped!. Not bad at all and check the website for their 1k price and they have other calibers as well 9mm/44 etc... been using them exclusively for about 1 1/2 yrs, now. Bottom line... Made in USA, Quality, For american... buy american!

NWCT, welcome to the forum.
I will have to check them out. Not that I will buy any. I cast most of my bullets. Every shooter should be a reloader, every reloader a caster.

I have shot 230gr 45ACP both Ranier and Berry plated bullets in competition. Both have functioned well and perform fine on the target. I didn't push them though. 700fps to 800fps is all.

Again. welcome to the forum.

X-treme seems to be the winner at this point, based purely on price. I've called them to request a catalog and a few samples.

For those who have used X-treme and other plated bullets,
are there any plating or other quality issues with X-treme, when compared with the more costly brands ? Thanks

Precision Delta

I been using PD .45ACP 230gr RN for quite awhile. I`ve had NO issues and they run great with both my 1911`s {Compact & G.I.}. $119.00 per 1,000 and that includes shipping. Can`t get better than that!.

A copper-plated cast bullet is not the same as a full metal jacketed bullet, that's the reason PD is more expensive. Different manufacturing processes, different specs, different prices. PD has the best prices for FMJ that I've seen.
