Default 44 mag reloading SCORE

Stopped by one of my favorite LGSs today just to look around,
(yeah, riiiiight )
and I found a box of over six-hundred pre-lubed 200gr RNFP cast bullets for $50 and 1100 large pistol primers for only $10. To top it off I was able to haggle the guy behind the counter down to only $50 bucks for all of it! I've got about 350 pieces of once-fired brass to work with so I am ALL SET!

BTW, I bought a 250 piece box of 200gr Xtreme Plated bullets last week and loaded 50 of them up. I loaded them with 7.5gr Unique - right in between the max 44spl and min 44mag for a 200gr jacketed HP. My boy and I shot them all at the range cleanup/BBQ on Saturday. Those were some SWEET shooting loads. Not as punishing as full-bore magnums out of a 3" barrel but they had enough "authority" to them to give you that big bore experience

So I'm think & hoping these 200gr hardcast are going to be just as good!

LOL! Yeah, it actually turned out to be an even better deal than I originally thought. When we looked in the box there were 3 layers of bullets with thin pieces of plywood separating the layers, plus about 1/3 of another layer. We lined the bullets up the length and width of the box (12 x 15) and came up with 180 per layer so we estimated there were about 525 or so left in the box.

After I got it home I started looking closer and figured out that there were originally 5 layers of 200 per layer - so it started out as a 1000 bullet box. Then I started looking at the primers. What we assumed to be 4 full boxes and one half box of 100 each were actually boxes of 250 each.

So where I thought I was getting a little over 500 bullets and a little over 400 primers - which would still be a good deal for $50 - I actually ended up with about 650 bullets and over 1100 primers.

I figure I got at least $60 worth of hardcast and $40 worth of primers for $50. A half-off deal - you can't beat that with a stick!
