Default 452488 for the 45ACP

I’ve been shooting the Lyman 452488 bullets off & on for 25+ years. They get matched up with 4.8g of bullseye to make an excellent target/plinking load. It’s an older Lyman 4 cavity mold that seen better days but still keep producing bullets. The bullets come out of a 4 cavity mold @.4525 (all 4 cavities) and are sized to .452 & weigh 195g with scrap/hill pickings lead.

I figured I’d top off my bullet stash with another 1200 or so bullets (34#+). They took about 4 hours to cast & a six pack. It was a pretty good way to spend an afternoon, a little c&c (casting & cocktails).

Keep um in the black

Those are very similar to my H&G #130 bullets (195 grs):

I have had excellent results with those in my various 1911's and also my 625's. The only complaint I have is that they don't cut as clean a hole on targets as my Mihec clone of the H&G #68's do.

That's because this design lacks the pronounced shoulder that the H&G 68 has. H&G designed this one to cast at 185 grains with linotype.

I load them over 3.7 Titeegroup and they function great in several 1911 and SW 1917/25s. Very mild load for all day shooting.

That's a great load tommyf, I've shot allot of 3.8g of titegroup loads with this bullet. It's actually been a very easy bullet to find accurate loads for.

3.8g titegroup
4.8-5.0g bullseye
5.6g hp-38/ww231
4.0g clays
6.0g universal clays

All of those loads have produced good groups with this bullet. This bullet might be an old/obsolete design, but it works.
