I have used dryer sheets in my tumbler for several years but have always used new ones as we don't use them in our dryer. I read that folks are using recycled dryer sheets. Are the recycled ones better or are they the same? Don

I use the used ones, tried a new one and it didn't work as well, or so I thought.
But what do I know?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the dryer sheet, do you use it with regular media?

My experience says the ones that have been through a dryer cycle will have a more open weave that traps the fine tumbling dust better than a new un-used one.

I don't have good access to used dryer sheets since we don't use them for laundry. So my practice is to cut a paper towel into strips and use that instead. It may not work quite as well as the used dryer sheet, but it works pretty well. I put a small amount of mineral spirits on them before I add them to the tumbler. Seems to help capture the dust.

I have also found that while the dryer sheets or paper towels do allow you to extend the media life, there comes a point when I just decide to change it out with new. And every time I do, I always wish I had done it sooner. YMMV

Do the drier sheets make your brass softer and more manageable?

No but its static free which is a good thing around gun powder and my bullets smell April fresh.

We don't use dryer sheets but do use "Swiffer" dusting pads around here.

After primary duty around the house, the used ones work great in the tumblers. After all, they were made specifically to attract and hold dust! And that they do.

I tested high for blood lead levels a few years ago. Almost positive that the worst of my exposure was from emptying tumblers and separating the media/brass.

They make me feel kind of "fresh"

New ones can leave a sticky film on the brass that is a real pain to get off. Anything similar will work like the Swifter pads, damp paper towel, piece of rag. It just helps collect the dust and dirt.
We don't use dryer sheets so I sometimes use a blue paper shop towel cut in pieces with some spray car polish on them.

With all the recycling that reloaders do, we should qualify for a tax break.

I always use the old ones,helps to suck up the dust. It also keeps my brass fragrent.

I've been using dryer sheets to cut down on dust in the tumbler for a while. I have found that putting unused ones in your media is a bad idea (at least with the cheap ones I use). I was left with stubborn residue on my brass when I used new ones that hadn't been through the dryer.

Among other problems with new sheets the new ones are covered with chemicals which prevent the fabric from "soaking up" the dirt in the media. New sheets just won't clean the media as well as used ones...

Dont use new sheets They will gum up your brass. i use them to pick up some dirt in the media mainly
