"Universal Shell Holder"
Not what today is called a "Universal Shell Holder" which means it will fit most presses but one I seem to remember having years ago that will "fit" most any cartridge case. As I recall it had a bunch of "fingers" that would close in on the rim or extractor groove when you turned the knurled ring on the perimeter of the device. I also remember that it didn't work real well, but when you had a case and no regular shell holder for it, it worked in a pinch.
(Not a shell plate as used on the old Forester presses either.)
Anybody remember these, or am I just hallucinating??
Better yet, anybody know where I might get one??
Or, does anybody have one of the old Lee "Hammer" loaders in 32 ACP they wouldn't mind getting rid of?

I know kinetic hammers use a universal that's a few bits held with a rubber ring. And RCBS has a universal shell holder now that works with their hand primer. Never heard of what you describe but I haven't been reloading that long. But I scour the internet for gear and am always looking at both old and new stuff.

The one I seem to remember clipped into the press ram just like the current individual holders.

The Bonanza "Co-Ax" press, now sold by Forster, has a universal, automatic shell holder, and has had for 40+ years. It will handle everything from Hornet to the large Weatherby magnums with two jaw sets.

I found that one. It isn't what I'm looking for. I want something that will work with one of my regular presses.

I've been reloading for 50 years and have had one of those in my junk box forever. I didn't know how it worked. Now I'll try it. Even I could learn something new.
