Default 9mm 124 grain factory duplication load

Using the Rainier 124 grain RN, I would like to duplicate the factory load (non +P). I'm looking primarily at Unique or AA#5 burning rate, but would be interested in suggestions from anyone who has something that has been working well for them.

I believe Rainier suggests using lead bullet data for their bullets. If that is the case, you may not be able to load them that hot.

Depends on what factory load and what they tested it of and what length barrel your gun is?

Look at the load data for whatever powder and then compare that to the factory data. It will only be approximate as factory ammo has powders we do not. The only way to tell for sure is with a chronograph.

As long as you do not exceed 1200fps or so with the plated bullets you are OK.

I like Power Pistol in 9mm and 40 SW.

Step 1, buy a chronograph.

Step 2, buy some of the ammunition you want to duplicate and shoot it over the chronograph to determine the actual velocity in your gun.

Step 3, begin with a starting load of either Unique or Power Pistol. Increase loads incrementally until a velocity similar to what you got in Step 2 is reached.

Accuracy may well go in the toilet first if you insist on using any plated bullet except Speer Gold Dots. "Real" jacketed bullets are the way to go for full power loads in any automatic.

Chrono, got that. Load workup, BTDT....a lot.

Power Pistol sounds like a good option.

Thanks, all.
