I spent the afternoon shooting my Ruger KP9440 in 40 S&W on my home range! It was a bright, sunny day with 73° and light breezes! Great fun! I shot three different loads and this was the best of the bunch. 170 gr. commercial cast semi wad-cutter, 5.0 gr. of Alliant Bullseye, WSP primers and Federal brass. I usually cast my own bullets. I have two different 180 gr. SW molds but was given a box of 500 of this 170 gr. bullet and figured I might as well use them! This is the first load I tried and will probably use this load for them all!
I like this old gun. I've had it quite a while, but since most of my shooting is with N frame Smiths in .357 and .41, I haven't ever tried to trade it for a Smith auto. It'll do.
I also tried some 155 gr. JHPs with 5.3 gr. of BE but they didn't do nearly as well.
I shot these off sandbags at 25 yards. I started out to shoot 25 rounds but lost count and fired 30. Pretty well rung the load out so think it's good!
Use the above loads at your own risk! I'm not recommending them!

Shot this gun again today, offhand, and proved to myself what a poor shot I'm becoming in my old age!

Broke out the old Ruger 40 again today! It's definitely not as much fun as my S&W revolvers!

Looks like a nice range you have there, right in your own yard! I have
a number of S&W revolvers but I also have two Ruger 9mm autos. The
various Ruger centerfire autos are certainly some of the best guns
around for the money.
