Default WTK: Sub-Sonic 9mm 147 Loads

I am getting ready to load some FMJ 147 9mms for my sons. They have several 9mm pistols, FA HK MP5s and they both use a Trident 9 on them.

I have some 231 in stock but I may look for a better powder to use. I thought about using Tite Group but I am worried it may burn too hot for the suppressor, especially in FA mode.

I would like to hear from any S&W Forum Members on their pet sub-sonic loads using the 147 grain bullet in the 9mm.

Thank You and Have a Great Day!

Dane

Berrys 147 grain PRN over 4 grains of Power Pistol. About 850 fps.

had good luck with Speer TMJ and 3.9 grs. Unique for sub sonic. Mostly for plinking rounds and teaching twenty something daughter to handle a Glock.

W-W has never puibslihed data for W-231 with 147 gr. FMJ. I use 4.0 gr. WSF.
Attached is a page from the W-W 14th Edition relaoding manual.

WSF seems to be what the bowling pin shooters mostly use. I load up to 950 fps with Hornady 147 jhps.

My standard sub sonic load for the Smith 76 is a Berrys 160gr over 2.9 to 3.2 of win231. It is good in a MP5 SD, functions great and hits Hard. I seat them as long as the magazine will handle and out of the 10" bbl they leave at just under 1000fps. Quiet and accurate.
