Universal Clays .38 S&W
3.0 grains gave me about 395 fps, and 4.0 grains of Universal Clays yielded 944 fps, if anyone is interested.

What bullet weight?
33% charge increase makes more than a 100% increase in velocity. Sounds like a huge jump in pressure?

Hodgdon "Clays" is a great powder for small pistol rounds check the web site for "cowboy" loads. I have often wondered if people confuse the 3 different powders with "Clays" in their name?! Clays, Universal Clays, and International Clays. Bad naming from the beginning. Ivan

Plus Clay Dot and original Clays.................
Universal takes less powder than Unique for a load c/o
velocity matches and there is less volume taken up in
the pistol case or shotgun hull.
In the .357 it will leap to high velocity, well past Unique
near the max grains with one less grain of powder. I got
a 158Lwc up to 1315 fps, then backed off in my 686.
Pay attention to loading data.............

Universal is my "go to" powder. How many different 4350's, 4831's etc are there on the market?
Handloading is just another example of the devil's in the details.
