What's a fair price for Hornady 55gr. FMJ's?
As the title says. I am looking getting some Hornady 55gr. FMJBT with cannelure bullets for my Mini-14. What is a fair going rate for this style bullet per 500 or 1,000ct? Last time I picked up a small box of 100 at Cabelas they were $14.69 OTD.

Aye, I consider $90/k the right price . . . less is a good deal.

Just to add insult to injury; In the mid 80's the Army went from 55 grain lead core FMJ, to 62 grain steel core FMJ. Winchester had millions of these, I paid about $6.00 a thousand, so I bought 20 to 25 thousand, loaded 'em up and shot all but about 6000 through my 5 Mini-14's. I thought the ammo was poor quality, so they sat in a couple of radio cans in the barn after I sold off the Mini's. About 10 years pass and I shoot them in a Cooper 21 bolt action, and they shoot a group the size of one bullet. So I shoot them in my AR-15 and they shot about a 3/8" group. These guns were scoped- but so were the Mini-14's. I never tried different weight bullets in the mini-14, I should have. Ivan

I've now managed to pick some up at a good price. Appreciate the heads up.
