Somebody, anybody, please tell me where I might purchase upon some Win231 powder. I'm so tired of looking that my fingers are aching.

In case ya didn't know , Hodgdon's HP-38 is the same darn thing. Usually easier to find and a buck or two cheaper per can.

You are not alone, there is not much of anything out there. Just got to keep searching, Look for HP 38 also. Or if you find Unique it's good but doesn't meter as well.
What caliber you loading??, you may have to adjust your preference, HP38/W231 is my go to powder for most things but others powders will do the same thing.

I am down to my last pound. However, I have a new 4# keg of Unique just in case.

Was in Portland last weekend and a store called Fisherman's Warehouse had a great stock of Hodgdon powders, including 231, a pound of which came home with me.
If I was restricted to one pistol powder, 231 would probably be my choice.

Well, from what I can tell, there's not much out there and after today's DC shooting we're probably starting all over again. More shouting for gun control, get those deadly AR15s off the market, and on and on and on. Back where we started after the Newtown incident. Such a sad state of affairs we're in. But I still need some powder and some bullets also.

Wouldn't it just be easier to continue to recall those politicians who would perpetuate such unfounded fears?

231 has been elusive here in Az the last few months. I'll just have to make do with the 40lbs of other powders I have.

Road Trip is right!
Come to Ohio. You don't need any special identification, or a license, or anything. Give them money and they give you product.
....it's almost like living in America!
Vance's in Columbus has CCI #500 SPP on sale all month for $26.99, limit 5000 per day. Of course, when they have shift change, there's a whole different crew who hasn't seen you earlier...And they have plenty on hand, so...
Fin, Feather and Fur has 4 pound and 8 pound jugs of various Hodgdon powders for what works out to about $16 per pound.
As well as having an excellent variety of name-brand jacketed bullets, The Fin also sells plated bullets in bulk. They scoop them out of a bin and weigh them like an old general store.
And they're situated next door to "Grandpa's Cheese Barn". Who can resist that?!
I think I need a job with the Buckeye Tourism Board.
Anyone seriously considering making an Ohio trip contact me and I'll do a recon run!

I've found some good deals by checking GunBot on a regular. The guy that runs it is changing the website so he's said that a bunch of stuff isn't working right just yet but it should be working again soon. In the mean time it's just short several vendors but it still shows quite a few. I like his program that shows the cost per unit.
None listed right now but keep checking or set up an email account:

I was in the same boar with regards to W231. I'd been calling aprund all the local & semi-local places every couple weeks and nothing. Then one day I call a LGS two towns over, & he says he's got plenty of W231. Went over immediately-- yup, had several one-can jugs. Asked him how he had some when no one else did and he said he just started calling his distruibutor like every day, and when some came in he snagged it.
So keep trying, some'll turn up.

Would it be worth a run over from Pittsburgh when I am visiting my son???? I have 'some' but if it was worth the trip spending 3 bills or so, I might do it.

All I can say is that Win231 must be the most popular powder on the planet.

I have purchased from them and it;s a good place. I bought Win AC when I could not find HP 38/W231 It is pretty darn close to HP 38, a little slower, use a bit more, but meters well and can load most handguns with it.

No cigar but I'm going to give them a try when they do get something in I can use simply because they give you a description of what each powder should be used for. I like that. Novices such as myself appreciate things like this. Thanks for turning me on to them.

Lymans 49th manual, not the Cast Bullet (which is also good) gives powder types and description in the begining.
I pretty much have a powder trinity as does Arch.
Bullseye
HP38/W231
2400
With those three, any handgun/bullet can be loaded.
Other makes have similar powders that do the same things.

Thanks. I only plan to reload for handguns. I might persuade myself to try 5.56 since I acquired a Colt AR15 but so far I've stayed with just handguns. I like your idea of having a limited number of powders. I don't want a lot of different ones to deal with.

The fact that Aaron Alexis never had an AR-15, but purchased a Remington 870 shotgun legally, passing a background check, was deemed irrelevant, per press secretary Jay Carney.
Alexis used a shotgun, apparently heeding Joe Biden's advice. Maybe Joe will issue a retraction, in favor of an AR-15, which delivers 1/7th the amount of lead and 1/2 the energy.
