Default Heavy bullets/load in a M29-10

My Dad has a very new M29(-10). Its a beautiful piece of hardware. My question is: Do these 29's suffer mechanical issues when stoked with moderate to full power heavy bullet (300+ gr) loads? I reload- Dad doesn't. He wants me to develop a "good-n-heavy" hunting load for his revolver in case he decides to go "BIG PIG or black bear hunting. I've already developed a great load for my 1894 lever-gun, but of course I'll need to start from scratch with his 29. I'm hoping to use my 310 grain cast gas checked flat point, but I wanted to make sure that his 29 could stand up to the recoil these things develop. Any concerns or suggestions? All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The last of the Endurance package engineering changes were incorporated in the Models 29-5 and 629-3, so your father's 29-10 should be fine with heavy loads. Some of the big bullet loads I've seen are longer than the Smith's cylinder and are meant for Rugers or T/C Contenders only. Keep your COAL within spec and you'll be fine.

I have an older 629 and I had to send it back to the factory presumably because I shot too many hot loads through it (young and not too bright, I loaded near max. and shot a minimum of 100 rounds per outing for a little over a year). As kwselke state, newer 29s and 629s are prolly ok...

The Federal 44 mag. 240gr has around 885 ft/lbs of energy and
the Federal 300gr lead at 1160fps has a MV of 896.
Grizzly ammo has a 300gr lead with a GC at 1324fps and a ME of 1170 !!

I would think a 300gr with almost 900 ft/lbs of energy is plenty for deer and boar and also a lot less recoil to handle.

Are you adding a gas check with that load ?

Good loading.

PS;
I would slip you a pm with data but I do not use those three powders, sorry.

Hornady gas checks will be used in these loads. These bullets have two crimp groves and I'll be seating them to the shorter o.a.l. Any load suggestions (suggestion for a good starting load with H110, 296, or Lil'Gun?)
