Hodgdon 800-X or Winchester WST for 45 ACP?
The 8# of Bullseye is probably less than 4bs now and with the way things are I gotta save it for the PPC load.
The local shop has a pound of 800-X and a pound of WST. I just looked at the Hodgdon manual and both are listed for 45 ACP.
Either would be under Rainier's 230 gr. Hex HP for USPSA single stack, if that helps.
Which would you go with? WST? Looks like it'd last longer.
Would one be easier to find more a pound of down the road?
Thanks in advance

800x is not at it's best in low pressure apps. The wst is far better in the 45acp. Not to mention 800x meters like corn flakes.

I think Fred hit the nail on the head.
800x isn't powder measure friendly.

Exactly.
800x is a bottle of flammable Frisbees.
It's almost easier to load by granule count than meter.

I've used about 20 pounds of WST in the 45 ACP and the 38 Special over the years, and I buy it anytime I can find it. It meters wonderfully, doesn't use a lot of powder, and as was mentioned previously, 800X is awfully clumpy in most powder measures. You can do +P loads in either with WST but I prefer it for target loads, where it serves best.

WST for the win. It meters much better than 800x and works well in everything from .32 to to .45.
a preemptive pox upon the naysayers who mention there is no published data. The WWW has lots of data

My major load with a 200 gr cast SWC is 5.3 gr WST. It is accurate enough I can break 6" balloons at 100 yards with it.
