Hello All,

I was given 4 pounds of this powder some time ago and never did much research on it. Now with the powder shortage I could sure use some powder to keep the ammunition bank up.

This powder had Load Data on the front of the jug and then on the back of the container Accurate Arms. Does anyone know of this powder and have any load data for it. My primary pistol cartridges are 45ACP, 38 Special, and 9mm.

Would sure be nice if this were usable in any of these calibers.

AA 9 is more directed toward magnum pistol loads.
Might be able to use it in the loads you want, but it's kinda slow for what you've listed.

#9 is really better suited to magnum cartridges. It would be a poor choice for the 9mm, .38 and .45 acp. Accurate no longer list this powder in their load data.

Accurate #9 is way too slow for those calibers. It is usually used In Magnum calibers.

Just checked the latest .pfd and it's still listed.

What is the -C in the title???

It is still listed, but not with cartridges you listed. It is close in application to 2400 and you wouldn't use 2400 in any of those three either. No 2 and No 5 are what you would use from their product line in the rounds you listed.

It may be too slow of a powder for the 9mm and 45, in order
to work the action..............

In the 38 special, it would do its best with the 158gr bullets or
heavier near a full charge but...........
being a BALL powder, you need to make sure you do not have a compressed charge.

It is listed in a 357 magnum but as others have mentioned it
will not be the best powder for the 38 size case.

I have not used this powder but a IMR powder in this burn rate
in a 686 .357 magnum 6" barrel with a lead 158gr bullet in a 38 case, maxed out at only.......... 888 fps.

This load was also several grains over the IMR data for the 38 special case loading. This powder CAN be compressed and even this maximum loading only went up to 922 fps in my L frame revolver.

If I did not have the L frame or chrony to lean on.............
none of this testing would have taken place !

Ever being the contrarian, I have run one 9mm test set with AA-9 and Rem 124gr JHP out of a 4" XD9c. I used FC cases and Magtech std. primers. My chrono indicated the following at 10'
gr. - fps
9.8 - 1058
10.0 - 1072
10.2 - 1083
10.4 - 1107
I didn't find any reason to use it.

Attached is a link to the Accurate Powder load data base. Accurate does not list any loads for the 9mm or 45 ACP using AA#9. They list only 1 load for the 38 special.

Well looks like I need to see if I can find someone who may be interested in this powder. Be interested doing some trading. I'm needing a couple of items like a belt and magazine carrier for Idpa type shooting if anyone has something like that.

No need for this as I can't take any heavy recoil anymore! Getting old is no fun!

Speer #12 lists a AA-9 load for 9mm 124gr (9.4-min, 10.5-max) - guess that is where I got my test info.

Guns & Ammo Jan '07 had a load for 38 Spl 125 XTP using AA-9 (10.0-Max)

Lots of loads for 38 Super & 357 back into the 80s

Speer #13 also has that #9 load. I am going to try it in a carbine. The slower powder might give a bit more velocity. Has anyone tried it?

AA#9 is scarce and is numero uno for 327 Federal Magnum reloading. You should be able to trade it handily.
