Default WST, HP38, 231

Just messing around today, and thought I would share. If you have not tried WST..You should. Super Accurate, and makes 231 look dirty. For those that are into that kind of thing. WST is on the left, 231, middle, HP38 right side.
It does not matter to me, as I clean the same either way. It has been accurate in all calibers used so far, which is 9mm, and 45.
Here is a shot of all three in the same hole. 21 shots at 21ft, with a handrest, as I wanted to see the difference between all powders. Even though I know 231, ad HP38 are the same, some still argue.
Not boasting or wanting to argue..Just try some.
I used the same press, primers, bullets, brass, shot right behind the other without cooling.
I forgot to mention all are at the same weight 5.0 grains of 231, hp38, WST.
Its on my other pics but I did not post.

Will you guys please stop spreading the word about WST! It's hard enough to find as it is!
My favorite for 9mm, 45acp and 38spl.

Default ...and 45 colt.

I use 7 grains of WST behind a 255 grain plated or cast lead flat point for a very clean and accurate 45 colt load.

I've been a big fan of wst, back when it used to be 452AA. It is my fav 45acp powder by far. Also a good 9 & 40 minor choice. I will tell you though, it is quite a bit faster than W231/HP38.
With 5.0gr, you are well over 900fps. My Idpa 45 major load is 4.8gr w/ a 205gr lswc or ltc, makes 825fps. It's only fault, it is inverse temp sensitive. So on hot days, I add 1/10gr to make sure I make PF.

WST just became my favorite for 45 ACP after I managed to find some and test it, switching from HP38.

Maybe it is being sentimental but I believe 452AA was actually better than WST in the .45. We used to buy it in 10# paper tubs at about $30-$35 and literally wore out a fair amount of WCC brass shooting target loads indoors. Every time I would run my latest batch of ammo over the chronograph extreme spreads (not SDs) would be 10 f/s - or less - for 7-rounds. I still have half-dozen of the empty tubs stacked up in the basement. Good stuff. WST is not quite as good, in my experience, but still pretty darned good. Wish I could find some!

IMO it was. 452AA wasn't inverse temp sensitive.

Last March, I found a 4 pound jug of WST at a rural LGS for $80. It works well with 9mm, .40, and .38 Special so far. Haven't loaded any .45 ACP yet but am looking forward to trying it. Clean shooting and meters well out of my old Pacific powder measure..
