Default Good day for powder and primers

One of the shops I get some of my reloading supplies from sent me an e-mail this morning. CCI #500 Small Pistol Primers-$27.99/1,000. All in stock Hodgdon & IMR powders-15% off!

5,000 primers-$139.50 + 8 lbs. TiteGroup-$135.99 + $19.28 tax = $294.77

Pretty happy right now, the powder was even cheaper than a few months ago ($149.99 + tax). Primers cheaper too ($30/K + tax). Still NO Alliant powder, but I now have 16 lbs. TiteGroup, 16 lbs. 231, 8 lbs. Bullseye and another 8 lbs. assorted others. Think I'm good for a while!

Nice haul!
I now subscribe to the 'prepare for future demand' theory by locating and stocking up on the powders/primers/brass I will need through my retirement.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do! LOL

Will be 58 in Sept. and hoping to retire in about 7 more years. Figure if I start now, I should have plenty to keep me busy when I no longer have to "punch the clock".

In addition to elections coming up, and not knowing what might happen; I want to kind of be prepared/stocked up, in case of the worst

Buying up a few bullet molds as I go along, something for each of my handgun calibers. Been buying plated recently, but again, want to be "prepared" if things dry up.

Except for Alliant powders, things seem to be showing up in quantity and prices have been better than past few years. Before, I'd never thought to by 8 lbs. of any powder; now, that's all I look for and buy whenever I can (and still pay the bills).

You and me both! I had actually thought that I had ample supplies of powder and would just wear down my supply for a while. You know, stop buying powder. Then I decided to do some research, looking for a very clean 38 special target load. So, you know I got out the books.

And by reading forums I decided it was time to try some premium VV powder. I bought a pound of V V N320 and loaded up 100 test rounds. If I find what I'm looking for, I'm gonna search out a 4 pound keg.

I think I'm also going to try X-700 for 38 Spl.

What I really need to do is build up adequate supply of bullets. Bullets and primers.
