Default Penn Bullets?

Anybody done any business with Penn Bullets lately?

I used to buy boxes and boxes of their bullets when they came to the OGCA show at the Cleveland IX Center.

I've mail ordered from them, but not for a long time. Are they as backlogged as they used to be?

I'm looking to buy some .454 sized 230gr. LRNs to try in my Colt New Service that was probably kitchen table converted from .45 Colt to .45acp. If they're going to take a year to come, I'll go some place else, probably Magnus.

What was the problem, quality or delivery time?

It was a long time ago and not going to bring up the old stuff. There were threads on it, Not sure if they have been deleted.

Perhaps things are better now

Despite Rule3's deliberate misguiding comments, I am doing fine and the business is doing fine.
80% of the orders are running in a 2-4 week time frame with about 20% running less than a week. No order has ever taken a year or even close to that to ship. Even during the panic period the worst it was about 3-5 months backlogged.
Coated bullets are going very strong and that adds a bit of time to those orders as our coating is a time cured product rather than a baked on coating. There's some new pics on the Penn Bullets Facebook page.
I am still trying to get some info, pics and prices up on the website about the coated bullets but there is a informational page under the PENNBULLETIN link at Penn Bullets INC. | Custom Cast Bullets

I miss the shows and did them for 26 years but the USPS flat rate shipping has changed the way I now do business. I have my weekends back to myself again. The panic of late 2012-2013 thru much of 2014 is pretty much over and demand is back to pretty much normal levels although the recent terror acts have kicked things up some.
The crew is doing well getting orders out and I now have time to devote to several new bullets that will be coming out in the next several weeks.
Some of which will be grooveless designs for coated bullets.

I encourage anyone that needs product to call and get current times for their orders. 412-767-4670

Pennbullets/Robert Palermo is one of the great institutions of the shooting industry. I have been doing business with him for nearly ten years. His products are excellent. His prices are reasonable. His advice is great and free. He is good people.

After learning here how to improve the accuracy on my 25-5 I was also looking for some .454 230's. Magnus illuded to having .454's, but their "catalog" and ordering info showed only .452's.

Penn had what I wanted at a good price. There was a minor glitch in the order, but they made good and communicated very well. I got the shipment in a month or so (I really don't remember) and that was a year ago.

I will buy from them again if I need .454's.

However, now that I've proven the accuracy improvement I may just buy a new mold and make them myself. Although, since I already make several .452 versions, I am having a hard time justifying the time required to cast a "special" boolit for just 1 gun.

Default I bought bullets when it was ROUGH....

I bought bullets at the height of the panic and he was anxious to get the order out, called me for some info, and sent them promptly. I'm looking forward to seeing the coated bullet line expand.

I ordered a few thousand bullets from them recently. It took 4-5 weeks maybe. But then again, I had ordered non standard sized bullets. So, I was happy with the services.
