Hello again, been a while. Moved across the country last yr and now getting back into reloading.

A friend of mine gave me a lot of Perfecta brass casings and I have never ran across these type/mfg casings?

1. Any problem reloading them?

2. Can I use Green Dot to reload 9mm (I do use Green Dot for my 38spl). 9mm/115gr.

3. If the answer is no on the green dot (which is all I have been using) what is recommended and performs well for target shooting lead from Missouri Bullets.

4. Any Crono speeds recommended for safe shooting/knocking down some small steel targets?

5. With the recommendation on your powder, how many grains to you use, or base for you 9mm (I can go off my lowest Crono from my 38spl I guess and work up).

Thanks for the help,
Jim

The popular opinion is that "Perfecta" cases and ammunition is manufactured by Fiocchi. Assuming this is true they are as good as any brass available.

So far as Green Dot data go to the Alliant on-line manual Alliant Powder - Home and look it up instead of asking for data.

It sounds like you have a lot to learn about re-loading! Please buy a manual or two (or more) and study them to learn what you need to know before you hurt yourself.

I've used Green Dot in several cartridges but not in 9mm yet, so I can't help you there.

Alliant on-line doesn't list much Green Dot handgun data currently. (No 9mm.)

Speer# 9 lists start 3.8gr @ 869fps & max. 4.0gr @ 975fps for a 125gr L-RN bullet.

Here's an old Alliant Powder Guide that has some G-D data:

I load perfecta brass w/o any problems........

In my C9 3.5" 9mm pistol using Green Dot and plated bullets I can get..........

115gr 1.12" OAL ........... 905 to 1163 fps.

124gr 1.14" OAL ........... 916 to 1133 fps.

Both bullets shoot best with the lower starting loads for my pistol. Going to a longer OAL also improved accuracy but you
will need to find what "Your" pistol likes.

Have fun.

While Green Dot isn't one of the "new" powders current data doesn't show its use in handguns any more as other powders are more popular in handgun loadings and there's a limited amount of "print space" in the manuals. If you look at the Alliant data for the 9mm published in the eary 2000's it shows a maximum charge of 5.2grs of Green Dot with 125gr JHP's and Lead RN bullets.

I use 4.9grs with Missouri 125gr lead RN bullets for practice ammo in my 9mm pistols.

Thank you very, very much. I'll look into it and cross reference in the BOOKS I have. I just was wanting a starting point/anyone who used this cartridge etc. I have never seen this mfg out West where I was located and since I moved, it is here in Fla. I just didn't want to waist my time or use a possible mfg that would get me/others hurt.
Again, thank you very very much,
Jim

Green Dot works excellently in 9mm. I have used it forever. My standard load is 4.7 grains with a 124 grain FMJ bullet.

Thanks. I have been using it in my 357/38spl for matches and it works great! Just was wondering about 9mm.

I'll look up for 115gr.

Just loaded some Perfecta 9mm range pick up cases this weekend. Just as good as anything else out there. Never used Green Dot so can't help you there.

I've bought quite a few from Everglades Ammo in your home state of Florida. Shipping was fast and they are good quality plus the price is good. I believe it was $89 for 1k of 124gr FMJ's. Just can't bring myself to pay much for something I'm going to plant in the dirt.

Thanks and agreed/dirt.
I'll check it out.

Green Dot is one of the very best powders ever made for 9mm. There has been 9mm data with Green Dot for many decades.
