Lovex D060 on 500 S&W (similar to AA5744)

Hello,
after some research over the forums, it appears for my purpose that one of the best and safest powders to do, when needed, light power reloads on the 500 S&W magnum is the Accurate 5744, for which there is specific "reduced load" data available.

Unfortunately I'm in Italy and apparently here this powder is not imported.
On the other hand I found out that the powder Lovex D060 is the european equivalent of AA5744.
I haven't been able to find exactly what is meant by "Equivalent", that is if the load charges can be considered equal between the two.

On the Lovex website there is no indication for the 500 SW but that powder is clearly advertised as a powder that "allows you to shoot reduced loads, without fillers, in just about any cartridge, especially the older, low pressure, rifle cartridges; [...] It also promotes consistent ignition even with low volume powder charges in the large capacity "old timers' such as the 50 Sharps"

Has anyone had experience with this powder on large handgun calibers?

Not much help here

I have not seen that Lovex Powder in the States, and very little of their other powder, also marketed as Shooters World here.

Have used AA5744 in the 500 and it works well (also in 460), only downside is availability and cost- a very expensive powder.

What brands are available to you in Italy?

TinStar from VIHTAVUORI is one you might have access to.
Also 4759 works well and will produce a little more power than 5744, what I would call mid-range.

Running a couple of test loads thru QuickLOAD it appears those 2 powders are in fact identical.
All the many definitive parameters they use to calculate the results are the same.
Since you intend on running reduced loads anyway, I would go ahead and use the 5744 data for your Lovex powder.
Their load manual page 22 has the data.

It's a lot safer using a relatively slow powder (for revolvers) like that than to load small amounts of faster powder like Unique or 2400.

VV Tin Star is an equivalent to Hodgdon's Trail Boss, not 5744. Anything chambered for 500 S&W will handle a Trail Boss or any load of 5744, the question is if it works for you.

Tinstar/Trailboss is actually too much of "low power" solution, I was actually looking at something like the "reduced load" power of the 5744 or something just above that.

I don't have Quickload so thanks for making the simulation Nemo!!
Also 4759 could be an alternative but as far as I understand I need to always load at near 100% density right?

Below TrailBoss or TinStar??? These load have almost no recoil out of an X-frame.

What bullet are you loading?

I have loaded 5744 and 4759 down to 70% case fill in 500 and 460 with no issue (I use WLR primers). All loads with these two powders have been lead.

Another aspect of this might be that 4759 is one of the powders that has been discontinued in favor of the new IMR offerings.

no no!!

I want MORE power than what is obtained using TrailBoss or TinStar, maybe I wasn't clear

but not as much as the full-house loads.

I am using a plated 400gr bullet, with cannelure, they are manufactured out of a local company here in Italy.
