Default Recent Auction finds

Had to go visit with my doc back east. Have been a kinda lab rat for a fairly new procedure dealing with esophagus problems. Anyway heard about an auction on the Eastern Shore of VA. Holy Crapo.. I bought way too much stuff. primers 14000 for 100 bucks...8 lbs of unopened DuPont type powders for 50 bucks. Guys they sold guns for next to giveaway prices..and I couldn't buy 'em..How bout a S&W M-36 3 inch adj sighted in close to new condition for 310 bucks? But I did buy 4 Contender bbls all carbine length custom shop numbers for an average of 110 bucks each. 3 had never been on a frame. But reloading stuff was the big thing for me. I got 25 boxes of jacketed 38 44 and 45 bullets for 125 bucks. So ...I guess if you keep year eyes peeled there are still some bargains to be found out there. There was a fellow there buying S&W (and other) grips/stocks and he wasn't bashful about bidding. Bought too much stuff but while back east I did find Unique in 8 pounds and found 2400(yippee) and got plenty of 22s and 22 mag. 22 mags have been almost impossible to find in Wyoming. So my little side trip to an auction was a fruitful adventure. Now my wife went a bit nuts and bought MORE antiques while visiting my sister in West(BG) Virginia. But she had fun.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Moosedog. After 3 or 4 treatments all the biopsies turned out clear. Doc is guardedly(his word) optimistic. Recheck in 5-6 months. Much better than the original observations. Esophageal cancer is some bad stuff.
My best find (I guess) was a Hornady L&L AP set up in 44 mag with 3 other new shell plates that I paid 110 bucks for. I bought it even though it wasn't blue... even got the box and manual. Other than the plastic powder tube it pretty much looks new. It had powder in it so really discolored.

Why couldn't you buy any if the guns? Couldn't you have them send anything you bought to an FFL where you live?

It sounds like a great way to spend a day. Thanks for telling us about it!

Actually the ffl there just didn't want to be bothered. Small town guy who didn't know he could send handguns through the mail or so he said. So I just let the whole thing go. I did get a nice stock for a 513T with the military cartouches. Paid 15 bucks for it. There was a nice RCBS 510 scale that sold for 15 bucks...But I already have 2. Best scale ever for the money. Got some good buys on 9mm Gold dot ammo and some other ammo too. The only thing that went high in my opinion was 223 22mag and 22 LR ammo. 22 bucks a box for 22 mag...wow!

Ah, I got it now... That Gold Dot ammo was a score. Sounds like you did very well.
