Think I have found a good load, for IDPA and practice.

* Good recoil but still easy to keep track of front sight.
* Nice consistent ejection of cases.
* Cases not sooty. Gun stayed pretty clean.

Pretty close to my load(4.3gr).I shoot them in a S&W 539(yep!an oldie)and at 20yards 2 handhold(no rest) it stays in a 4'' circle.
And quite soft.

I also worked up to this same load using the same Bayou bullet in my Shield and a G27 using a 9mm barrel conversion

I have been loading 124gr lead and now coated bullets for the 9mm a few years now with a charge of between 4.0gr and 4 4gr W231/HP-38. I agree they shoot well in any 9mm pistol I have tried them with. It seems that powder never lets us down. I have loads worked up with W231 for the 32 ACP, 380 ACP, 45 ACP, 38 S&W, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, 9mm, 45 Colt and maybe 1 or 2 more, all good.

I rarely use 4.2gr with a 124gr coated bullet. It's mostly 4.0gr and 4.4gr but I will take a better look at that 4.2gr load you mentioned, thanks.
