I've done it!
I finally decided to get wet!My 8 3/8 629 is on its way.I ordered, received and already casted some 200gr RFN for it(comes out at 212gr)since I decided I would not shoot the big boomers in it(265gr with a shovelfull of H110).I am looking for a load that will clock around 1350FPS.Just bought a 4# of Power Pistol and compare it to good ole Unique.
My loading books are pretty old and the only recent one I got doesn't mention anything about the primer. Is PP hard or easy to ignite?

I have never had to use a magnum primer with Power Pistol. Now days I only use them with W296/H110, HS-6 and Lil'Gun.

Power Pistol is a much faster powder than Unique. It is a much higher pressure powder, and I don't think appropriate for 44 mag. There are a lot of other powders better suited.

I looked at the burn rate charts from Hodgdon and Western Powders and both show Power Pistol as being SLOWER than Unique. It's not much slower but not "much faster" like you said. That is incorrect information.

I know but I haven't seen a single pound of 2400 around here since Noah was rowing his boat!
