Xtreme's DEWC for 38/357
Is anyone loading these? I picked up 1000 of them during the last sale plus free shipping. I'm curious what your favorite loads are with this bullet. I have a whole mess of Titegroup and Clays, so I'll probably start there.

Been using them about a year with 12.5 grains of 2400. DO NOT load them all the way in like you would normally do with WCs load them to full SWC length in .38 special cases. They will whop the poop outta steel plates.

In my experience, Tightgroup tracks close to Bullseye charges in mid range 38 special applications. I found 3.0-3.1gr of TG to be the sweet spot for a plated 148 gr DEWC me. Don't over crimp or accuracy suffers badly.
p.s. Got to love the free shipping days at Extreme. Makes it hard to resist ordering a small batch of something new just to do some experimenting.

I too like these with Titegroup 3.1-3.2 gr. I have shot them with light crimp and no crimp, plenty of neck tension without a crimp all depending on how far you expand the mouth initially.
HP 38 is another favorite.
As an alternative their 158 SWC is a fine bullet and has a knurled crimp ring on the bullet for a little more aggressive crimp.
They do punch nice clean holes

Yes both my 66 and my GP100 like 3.9 grains hp-38 and a modest crimp in the modest cannelure. I like them I'd buy more when I run out of this bunch.

I usually go with the "Soft" 148gr HBwc bullets for my target work.
I did get 500 BBwc 148gr from Xtreme a while back since the
guys with HBwc had empty shelves.
I have shot them before with the standard powders but I will be
making a test run with my steel frame M49 snub nose with light
and full loads of power, that will include cfe and be86 powders.
My notes with a 6" barrel show 3.4grs of Trail Boss being top dog in accuracy.
However some are not able to find this powder.
2.8grs of Bull or Red will work, but I did have 20 rounds do 2.19"
with 3.2grs of w231 (light crimp) if you have any.
Later.

Anyone ever use DEWC 148 gr bullets in 357 brass?
If so, would appreciate any load data (especially for W231 or Tightgroup).

I have, but they were plated DEWC's from Xtreme. I used 5.0 gr of Bullseye, and seated to the cannelure in Starline 357 MGN brass.
They were very accurate in my 4 inch 686. I shot a 1 inch group at 10 yards, which is as good as I can see.
Best,
Rick

Both are listed here:
Set your sights on pistol reloading data | Hodgdon Reloading
Edit:
Actually they list loads for hollow base. Just tone them down a little to start. I've found the data on this site to be extremely helpful, but defintely on the weak side of the load spectrum.

Been there done that
I can confirm all 10,000 times I shot them that your findings are valid
Now it's time to do something with all the .38 brass I've accumulated over the past 20 years!

I am not saying that 148gr bullets in a long 357 case is not a
good target load but if you go to a range and shoot at a 100 yard
steel pig.............
You will see where the 148gr hits short......
the 158gr almost to the target........
and the light 357 magnum load, dead center of the pig.
Its just a matter of fitting the ammo to the range that you will be shooting at.
Its all good.

Or you could adjust the sights to your preferred ammo !
