I would like to load some .32 S&W long for my K frame 32 revolver. I will be using 100 grain LRNFP projectiles with W231 powder. From Hodgdon's book, the nearest load is 1.9 to 2.3 grains of powder. Has this worked out for any of you as the normal load? Are there any better loads using these components? Thanks for your help. (I won't be loading until it gets warmer - my garage is unheated.)

I use 231 and an RCBS LSWC that casts a bit over 100 grains. My charge is a bit above the range you list, but not much. I’ve used it for years and never tried anything that improved on it for accuracy. I try to use Rem. 1-1/2 primers, which I think helps in the accuracy department, at least according to the chronograph, but I’ve made a lot of rounds with Federal 100s too - also good.

I had two S&W .32s that were made in the '70s. I tried several bullets that I cast, most accurate was an 88 gr. from an RCBS mould with Bullseye powder. I don't recall whether I tried 231 or not, but it should work well. You might check a Lyman manual.

I load a MO Bullet Co RNFP, 100 gr, over 3.4 Gr 231. 1.236" OAL and it chronl's 853 fps, and shoots into 1.5" at 12 yards. (3.25" barrel on a Pre mod 30).

Thanks for the info. I will work up from Hodgdon's chart to what has been indicated.

I have a little over a 1000 of the discontinued Hornady 90grain SWC I used 2.1 gr WW231 I use this in Top Breaks as well as top strap revolvers.
