Has anyone loaded the 225 gr FTX for the 460S&W? I can't seem to find any published data. I've used these in 45 Colt for hunting with success but wondering about terminal performance at the higher velocity.

The velocity ceiling of the 225 FTX is 1900 fps per Hornady.

I use them in my 460s for shooting paper.

I call 47 grains H110/296 as (100% case fill, OAL 2.270") as MAX; tested MAP is 57KPSI and 2050 fps 8" test barrel.

As with any reloading process start low and work up

H110/296 should not be loaded below 90% case fill for proper ignition which is about 43 grains with this bullet.

They've worked fine for me in reduced loads using moderate & moderate-slow powders. I shoot at an indoor range mainly & I have other less expensive bullets I use there that are still within their limits & save the higher rated magnum bullets for full loads.

Hornady's Handbook lists the muzzle velocity range for them as 600-1800fps which isn't a problem for me since I have a short barrel 460 S&W.
