Default HRTRS Marked Ammo

I found some brass at the range. Is this that Herter’s brass that is supposed to be loaded hotter? Is it suitable for reloading?

The primer pockets are really, really tight on the first reload, but other than that, it is good brass.

Cabela’s sells Herter’s ammo and they say it’s made by Sellier & Bellot. I’ve always found S&B ammo to be fairly hot, but I’ve never had a problem with it.

I haven’t knowingly reloaded any of their cases. I have heard complaints that the primer pockets are tight, so watch for high primers.

It probably is made by Sellier & Bellot in the Czech Republic.
I believe it to be excellent ammunition and the brass is reloadable. The primer pocket is a little tight for US made primers.

There is a little hand tool called a "Primer Pocket Uniformer"
it will fix them tight pockets right up .
After removing the crimp on military cases I use the pocket uniformer to finish the job. Works perfectly and not an expensive tool .

Tight primer pockets are the reason I don't reload them.... Not worth the effort.

X2 on the tight pocket...i actually sold 200 pieces because of it. A slight chamfer fixes that.

My 30-30 herters brass actually appears crimped. I removed it on all of them I believe so I can’t get a pic.

Just found those tight primer pockets last week. Didn’t notice when hand priming but the Dillon was almost crushing them in there. I don’t have the unifier but my swagging die opened them up enough to seat on the press.
Good Luck,
David.
