Any one aware of one made for handguns?? Am going to try a Hornady but am not expecting much. Am tired of the slow RCBS hammer Just thought I would ask. THANKS for looking.
Seems to be a toss up between Hornady and RCBS. Hornady says theirs is for rifles only?? Collet modifications can be done-- Those in RCBS corner, say Hornady's collets are prone to breaking-- Well maybe?? RCBS collets on the surface seem to be better made and come in Handgun sizes, to a point-- My reloading expert uses a RCBS but really likes the idea of Hronadys cam lock-- I guess its to each his own-- guess we will see.
I've used a RCBS puller with several calibers both rifle and pistol for many years and it has worked just fine and I've yet to have a collet break. I also have a RCBS hammer type puller and have had two handles break over the years and once in a while the rubber ring will stretch or break and has to be replaced.
I have an RCBS press mounted collet-type bullet puller and a Forster (I think); haven't used either in a long time. As I recall, they work poorly with cast bullets and that's all I use in handgun cartridges. The collet pullers can mark jacketed bullets slightly. I much prefer a kinetic puller for everything.
This little rascal arrive today. Once set up. not quite inline with U - tube it works like a charm. bullets are NOT damaged and am saving a bunch of powder as well. I have 10 boxes of 38 Super to take down so my RCBS hammer just wasnt a option. Contary to U tube who favors the RCBS, the Hornady collet is quite sturdy. U-Tube isnt always up to date on everything I just liked the operation of the cam lock so gave it a try. Glad I did, but NOTHING against the RCBS. Not sure how cast bullets will work but I will cross that bridge if I come to it.
