Good Find For Powder Today!
I found a 4lb bottle of W572 for $64.80 out the door.
It works well in most handgun calibers I load.
$16/lb Woohoo!

Did you look around to see if your fairy Godmother was above you, when you saw that bottle of powder?
Nice find.

I did look around, for other bargains! While there I also found a bag of 100 Winchester new PRIMED 45 Colt brass @ $35.
It was $100 I wasn't expecting to spend when I left for the pharmacy this morning. The small gunshop is literally next door.
Bastogne71, I should have bought a ticket! It never crossed my mind.
I think short of finding 4000 SP or SR primers I felt I'd already hit the lottery!

I picked up another 4lbs of powder this morning.
2lbs of Vihtavuori N340 @ $24 ea
2lbs of Hodgdon 380 @ $20 ea
Got all for $88 and tax. Never used any of the Vihtavuori powder, but it looks good on paper!
Price was too good not to try.

That is a great price on the VV340. It is great powder I load 6gr under a 160gr SWC in .38spl. That is max in some of their on line data and it really smacks steel............
One .38spl 158gr load lists 6.7gr and another says 6.8........

You got the VihtaVuori N-340 for $10-12 off the prepanic price! VV says it is similar in application to AA-5 so it will work very well in 9mm, 40, 10mm, and 45 ACP in autos. Also an excellent choice for 38 spl, 45 Colt and similar cartridges as well. Good move - I’m sorry I wasn’t there to get some too.

Powders easier to find
Congratulations - Cdog. Powders seem to be showing up. One
secret place had this and more.
I been wanting to try this Winchester StaBall 6.5 Ball Powder,
$30.00. All their Powders on hand was a "Limit of Two".
It appears from my Reloading Manuals it's good for 270Win,
270WSM, 308Win, and 30-06Sprg, and others.
I got Primers the other day for $31.95/Brick.

The only primer type I would really like to find at a decent price is large pistol. I'm not out, just fewer than I'm comfortable with now.
I enjoy shooting big bore handguns like .45 Colt revolvers.

I loaded and shot some 200 grain Berry's Flat Nose HP .45 ACP using the N340 powder yesterday. Some ugly .45 rounds, but they shoot!
It meters great and I found no powder residue in the XD-M I fired them through. I was only shooting 11 yds, but each round went bang and hit point of aim.
I really like the powder, but wouldn't enjoy it as much at regular price.

Balls of Fire.
I'm going to Reload three 270Win cartridges with the Win
StaBall 6.5 ball powder.
According to several Reloading Sources I'm going with
51.0 grs with my 130gr SP Interlock Hornady.
Hopefully I will get a chance in the next couple of days to
Range Test my Reloads.

Improved Military Rifle
Went back to my Secret Place to buy powder and purchased
IMR 4064. This has been a good performer in my reloads.
They had IMR 3031 also, but decided not to get it.
I do like both these Powders. I'm glad Reloading Components
are finally showing up again and still reasonably priced.
IMR 4064

I stopped in a new LGS this weekend. He actually had some primers! Looked like an estate, packaging was late sixties/ early seventies. He only wanted $185 a thousand.
I could be wrong, but I don't think he's going to make it.

There's nothing I've found not to like about the N340 so far.
It leaves less mess behind than anything else that comes to memory in .45 ACP loads.

6.5 StaBall in 270Win
Well I got a chance to go to the Range. My reload of 130gr SP
InterLock Hornady #2730 /51.0grs Winchester 6.5 StaBall ball
power, /Win. brass/CCI LR #200/COL: 3.210"/maybe just over
2800fps, was good to go.
This Reload was accurate and actually point of impact was
where the Scope cross hairs were.
The Group was just a 1/4" to the right of my Reload of IMR 4350.
Who knows why, interesting.
6.5 StaBall is definitely a keeper.

None of the shops I visit normally carry Alliant powders. I did find a couple of pounds of Unique a few weeks back, but that was it. Reloader 15 and 19 have been long time favorites.
Difficult to find Accurate brand too. Hodgdon distributed powders seem to be most stocked in my area.

Check out Shooter's World Powder. Made in the Czech republic. Cross referencing it seems the same as some of the Accurate branded powders.
