I have purchased 300 72gr cast bullets diameter .258 for my circa 1911 Winchester carbine caliber 25-20. I have no experience with gas seal bullets. The gun shoots to POA but I want to close the groups. Will gas seal help increase velocity and groups? I have been working hard to overcome the leading issue with the barrel and it is showing a much better profile for the rifling. Your comments are appreciated!

Do you mean: Gas Check? A copper or brass cap on the base of the bullet?

These allow for shooting cast bullets at 1800 to 2200 fps without leading the barrel. (depending on alloy maybe faster.) They do not allow the bullet to obturate (expand) to fill anything oversize. I have several molds for Gas Checks, and use the 3117 version in my 32-20 revolvers (1902 & 1919) to enjoy the guns with mild loads. The same bullet sized .309 in M-1 Carbines at full velocity to avoid over priced plinking bullets.

I didn't really give an answer, just a definition! I hope it helps.

For your gun and bullets use the cast bullet loads in Lyman #45 and before loading manuals. I have found #44 and before on line.

I’ve been shooting my own cast 65gr from old original Ideal single cavity mold. My bullet metal is stiff enough that I don’t use gas checks on any of the low velocity cartridges.
I’ve had several 25/20 & 32/20 rifles and have had no leading problems. I don’t hot rod, most near factory dupes. The factory loads like Win Lubaloy we’re just plain lead bullets. If your rifle isn’t grouping the first thing I would check is bore diameter. The only 25/20 I have presently is a Win 53 from 1927. It has mint bore. It will not shoot jackets or cast sized .257”
I have to size cast .259” and it shoots well.
