Shooting at range today and heard this unusual sounding report. Guy throws a bunch of brass in the brass bucket. I went to look and it was 44-40 starline. 43 pieces. Yours for cost of shipping.
1st I’ll take it gets them.

Why did they sound unusual? Maybe the guy was uninformed and shot them out of a .45 Colt? That would be a good reason to throw them in the brass bucket.

If they were fired in a 45 Colt chamber, they will easily size back into 44-40. Had it happen all the time with Cowboy shoot range pickups.

99% of shooters where I shoot use 9 mm, there might be a 45 ACP, 38 Spl. or 357 Mag. on rare occasion ,44-40 sounds Very different from those. Amazes me that people throw such brass in the bucket…….

It happens. If you don't handload, brass has no worth.
