I have an old Chrony I haven't used in 20+ years, and I thought the LR unit was too big for indoor range use, which is my typical use. So when I saw the Garmin, I immediately ordered one and waited. It showed up about a week ago, and I took it to the range this past weekend.

Overall, I like it a lot. It's tiny, and sits on the shooting table without taking up much room. I went to test five factory loads I'm using in three different guns (two 9mm, two .38 Super, and one .357). That part worked like a champ. I've posted that information in the "Ammo" forum.

I did have two glitches, which I think may be related to each other. First was syncing to the app on my phone. It synced perfectly fine at home, but it just wouldn't do it at the range. The app couldn't find the unit. So I proceeded without the phone app, which was no biggie.

The second glitch was a real PITA. I was in the first string of testing, and all of a sudden I get a message on the screen that there's a software update and did I want to "Update" or "Cancel". I just thought I would cancel and do the update at home later. No, no, no, you can't do that. When I selected "Cancel", it just returned back to the prompt. After a couple of times of this, I just decided to waste some of my one hour range time to do the update. It took about five minutes to do the update, and then it was fine and I could proceed. But I do intend to contact Garmin to tell them the "Cancel" prompt doesn't work.

Later I thought about it and thought that the inability for the phone to synch with the app might be connected to the machine ultimately wanting to update the software, but I didn't get the update prompt until like 10 minutes later. Another issue I'll bring up to Garmin.

Anyway, I'm definitely a fan. The thing works and it's tiny.

I had great results as well this past weekend. Remounted scopes on 2 AR's (.223) and I just left it running the entire time. 56 shots, never missed a beat. Downloaded the csv/excel file too. EXTREMELY pleased. Best thing I have purchased outside of a gun in a long time! I did sell my G2 as well, woot!

I just missed the first round of these and have had one on backorder for a while. Also have a few notification requests out. Excepting some minor glitches as reported above, the Garmin looks like it's everything the Labradar should have been.

I have a decades old Chrony, and a newer Caldwell, but have been wanting to upgrade to doppler for a while. The Labradar just had too many mixed reviews, especially for triggering issues with suppressed guns. The Garmin looks like they got just about everything right.

I hope it becomes available soon... I've got some load development on hold until it arrives.

Ordered mine this morn, and it shipped 2 hrs later. Can't use my chrony at the indoor range. Storing, transporting, setting up and using the Garmin should certainly encourage using it more often.

I ordered one from Optics Planet several days ago. Hasn't shipped yet. I think they are on backorder as most sellers are sold out. It is pictured with a small tri pod so I'm assuming it is included?

How did you guys get one so fast everywhere I have looked it is on backorder and minimum 5 weeks wait time.

Keep an eye on Scheels. They were in stock yesterday morning and again this morning. Seems they sell out and replenish stock in small batches. Don't ask me why, it just appears that way.

Yesterday, a buddy bought one and gave me a heads up. I bought one and did the same for another buddy who promptly placed an order. After that, out of stock until today.

Mine is expected to arrive Friday. Stellar shipment and delivery in my opinion!

P.S. As of right now.... Scheels has them in stock!

In my research, I was told to expect an update upon arrival. When I opened the box, I turned it on and let it do its thing.

I can see how this would be annoying if you weren't expecting it with a new product.

I ordered mine from Cabela's. I got lucky and found them in stock at the height of the excitement about them.

It's tiny. It's expensive. It works. I don't have to go forward of the firing line at any time to use it. I can put multiple targets up on the board at 100 yrds and not worry about trying to thread the needle across the optical sensors.

Keep an eye on Scheels.

I'm starting to wonder if Scheels isn't trickling out large shipments a few at a time to keep people focused on them.

They are about the only dealer that has had the Garmins recently, and seem to go out of stock just as soon as they put them up on the site. Then magically, they have some in stock a week later... rinse and repeat.

I just ordered one from Scheels. Supposed to be here Monday or Tuesday. Happy birthday to me!:D

Thanks for the head's up... I just checked their site, and they still had them showing in-stock so I orderred one! :D

As soon as I get the shipping notification, I'll cancel my existing backorder...

Scheel's is the real deal. I check their site regularly for primers and such and saw that the Garmin was back in stock. Ordered it and got it a few days later. I'd been studying chronos for a while trying to figure what to spend for what. It wasn't cheap but it's sure all it's cracked up to be.

For those of you that have a Garmin, will it show the bullet speed at different points out to 100 yards. Would like to know at which point CCI Mini mags drop below speed of sound when fired out of a 1022 rifle?
