Starting to gather info to reload for my SP101 .327 Fed Mag. Just want to load for .32H&R & .327mag. I’ve got Starline Brass on the way and I’m looking at bullet weights. The data I’m finding is suggesting 85 grain and 100 grain. However, I’m finding a great deal on 115 grain jacketed. I figure the 85 is great for plinking in either caliber, but If I want a hot load for my carry, I’m thinking the 100 or 115 is the way to go.

Anyone have experience with these bullets? By the way, I’ve got a pound or so of Unique and several hundred small pistol primers left over from my .38/.357 Cowboy loading. Figured I’d use that up.

I don’t have any experience with the 327 but I have been loading for the 32 H&R for a long time.

I use 95-100 grain bullets for everything. I don’t load jacketed bullets but cast all my own lead bullets, I do this for all of my handgun ammo. At the speeds I desire and the cartridges I shoot are capable of achieving jacketed bullets offer no benefits.

Your Unique will work fine in the H&R, I don’t use it in that cartridge but have before with satisfactory results. any of your fast to medium burn rate powders will work to some degree.

For plinking loads W231 is great, 3.2-3.5gr under a 95gr bullet will produce 900ish fps and gives good accuracy in my revolver. AA5 is also a powder I have had great luck with in the 32. For more powerful loads Unique burn rate powders work well. I use Power Pistol in this role myself, it will drive a 100gr cast bullet to 1200fps with very good accuracy and sane pressure.

As I posted in another post, I am also interested in 327 and H&R magnum. I cast my own bullets, and settled on the 98gr full wadcutter. I use Bullseye and Unique in my revolver loads to keep things simple. I will follow both posts, to see what others recommend. I know the Lyman cast bullet manual maybe low of recommended loads, but I hate pushing the limits, especially with a new gun. I recently got my mold in and I will start making bullets this weekend, and testing will begin shortly.

I only carry factory ammo for defense, but that’s just me. I do want to load some .327s for range practice, since the factory stuff is priced like gold.

I recently got some Missouri Bullets in .32. Hopefully they’re good and don’t deposit lead like they claim. They’re supposed to be hard cast to prevent that.

Telecaster, I also use Missouri Bullets wadcutters, but wanted to cast my own. I like you want to carry only factory ammo for defense, but I enjoy casting and experimenting to get the most accurate loads, not necessary the fastest. Since I getting older, I enjoy the little 32 more and more, hands aint what they used to be.

When I owned a 327 Federal I reloaded with WC820 or surplus AA9. I think Unique is one of the best powders out there for 32 Mag. I shot several boxed of Federal 327 F with a 115 gr bullet but would be happy with a 100 gr for defense if that is what I had.

Jacketed 85 and 100 gr XTPs 100 cast SWCs and HPs and a whole bunch of 115gr I have for 32-20...they shoot just fine in the 32 HRMI'll go along with th AA9...There are 3 or 4 different versions of WC820. once you find the best load it is good. The 327 with 100 XTPs get L'il Gun...loud and fast but shoots good from my SP101

My favorite loads for the 32 H&R Magnum are with a RCBS cast SWC
#32-098-SWC , weight 98 grs . , sized .314" ...
and with Unique Powder :

starting load of 3.6 grs Unique @ 1017 fps
... work up to a ...
Maximum Load of 4.0 grs Unique @ 1099 fps

These are not light "powder puff" loads because Unique needs a certain level of pressure to burn cleanly and completely ... I have found that you need to stay above 3.5 grs of Unique to get the right pressure and a clean complete burn .

If you want lighter loads ... Bullseye , Red Dot , AA#2 , 700X and such "fast " powders are your friend !

No experience with the 100 and 115 grain bullets ...just the 98 gr. RCBS SWC ... which I guess in reality is almost 100 grs., 98 grs is only 2 grs. short of 100 !

Thanks Gary, I casted up around 100 rounds yesterday, and I sized and lubed them for .314 today. I am going to load up some for H&R and 327 to shoot on Sunday at the range. I do not own a chronograph right now, so I will testing for accuracy only. With both guns being snub nosed revolvers it maybe shooter issue instead of loads. I am going to give it a try though. Thanks for the help.
