Wondering if anyone here has ordered dies for the 450 Adams (Eley, Corto Etc) cartridge? I have a box of factory rounds but need to order dies so I can reload it after I shoot it. This stuff is expensive! The bullets seem to be 226 grain lead round nose and I need some of those too in .454" diameter.

I'm sure you know C&H list the dies. Have you considered the Lee #456-220-1R bullet mold and casting your own?

Since you are planning to reload, apparently 45 Colt cases can be trimmed to the shorter length, but a better option may be to start with either Schofield cases or 45 Cowboy brass (I don't know what the case length should be).
See this: Creating 450 Adams ammunition?

I have a pretty good supply of original Fiocchi brass in 450 Corto so I am set there. I plan on calling CH4D tomorrow to see about reloading dies. Matt's apparently will size their 225 grain bullets to .454" - have to call him too - so I think I am set if those vendors will do it.

Thanks!

Update - I spoke to both vendors this morning. CH4D is about 18 months out on having the dies in stock so I placed an order. I spoke to Matt and he said the 225 RN bullet drops from the mold at .453" so that won't work. Still in search of a suitable bullet, the Webley barrel measures .454" ID.

Do .455 Webley dies work? Seems like they would be similar to running a .38 Special in a .357 Mag die set.

455 Webley is the same thing; the 455 Webley case is just longer. The die set that CH4D will eventually make for me is for 455 Webley among many other similar British cartridges.

One of the standard weight cowboy .45 Colt bullets is a 225-grain RNFP. I use a coated version sized to .452 in my 22-4. It might drop from the mold at .454 or larger - I don't know, but it might be worth contacting a producer to find out. Bear Creek has a 230-grain hollow-base RN that might work.

ETA: These are the 225-grain RNFPs I'm using in my 22-4. It took me a while to find them again. I've provided the link so you can contact them if you want to.

Those SNS 225 grain bullets look interesting if they could be sized to .454". I ordered a set of 455 Webley dies to see if those will work. Fingers crossed.
