Anything wrong with shooting it in a 686 chambered for 9x23 with moonclips?

For $4.80 a box, I'm game.

I would think it should be fine. Likely it will be milder than most 9x23 loads. How old is the ammo - is it likely to have corrosive primers? Not a big deal as long as clean appropriately, which would be even easier with stainless.

Yes, it is corrosive and berdan primed.

If I am correct, it's length is .800" or I suppose you could call it roughly a "9x20" and in power, milder than a 9mm Luger.

It is a semi-rimmed cartridge like a .32ACP, and is the reason it is the most "odd ball" cartridge that useless for nothing but the guns chambered for it.

Rim thickness seems compatible, and as long as the groove above the rim is somewhat close, moonclips should work fine.

I ordered a box to try- so I wont be out much.

I used to shoot alot of the Norma brand 9mm Browning Long ammo that was around in an Enfield MkIV revolver in 38S&W.
More snap to it than the over the counter US made 38S&W ammo but the top break Enfield seemed to take them in stride.
The semi rim worked fine for it's intended purpose in the revolver.
I'm not advocating the use of it in guns chambered for 38S&W,,just a point of information.
I used some of it for it's real job in a Swede M07 and an FN 1903.
They also worked in a Star 9mmLargo caliber Model A semiauto though they failed to feed sometimes. 9mmLargo is also a 9x23mm. The semi rim kept it headspaced OK in the Largo chamber.

That Norma ammo was non-corrosive and boxer primed. I think I paid something like $5/box of 50 for it. Still have a partial box around.
