In 147 gr. 9mm and 158 gr. 38 Special plated bullets I prfer the Berry's which have a true round nose configuration. Otherwise I have used both the Berry's and Rainer without any specific preference.

When I was developing my "combat wadcutter" .38 Special loading, I compared Berry's and Rainier bullets (and eventually settled on Tennessee Valley Bullet hardcasts, but that's another story) and always found the Rainier bullets to give greater velocity over any given load I tried from any of my guns. Not an enormous difference, but a consistent and notable one.
That's all I can report on these rounds.

I have used both. 9mm 147gr, 45ACP 230gr RN.
The local gun store stocks Ranier and I would much rather buy locally. The only thing about it though is that they aren't always available and they are much more expensive.
I have recently started to by from Berry's direct offline. I had been very satisfied with them until this last order of 40S&W 180gr HP. I ordered them several weeks ago and as of today they still haven't shipped!
Fortunately there aren't any shipping charges or I would be hopping!
I use them exclusively in my 9mm because of problems with leading. If I shoot indoors much in the 45ACP I use them there too. In my Glocks I use them too as a cheaper alternative to buying an aftermarket barrel or using jacketed.
Both brands have worked extremely well.
While not as good as some, this course of PPC was shot with Berry's 230gr over a charge of Bullseye. Seems to work OK!

That is very unusual to hear. Have you called them? I have recived my orders in just a few days. Maybe they have gotten overwhelmed along with everyone else??

I did call, 3 times as a matter of fact.
At first I was told 4-10 business days. It is now 14 business days. What I found out today was that I will get a call when they ship. I'm not too aggravated YET!
Truth be known, I suppose 40 caliber is a very popular caliber, especially now.
When I ordered the 230gr RN they came real fast. That's why I ordered the second time. They have their money as I put it on the card. That's the only thing I hate about ordering online.
Money has changed hands and there is no product in my hands!

I bought 1000 of the Berry's 148 38 wc and they are so oversized that I can't chamber a single round unless in a nickle case. Would love to hear and explanation for that one.

Well, I got my bullets yesterday. I have to say this, MAN THEY LOOK COOL!
I got the HP design and I want to do some testing on wet phone books with these baby's!
This picture is off of their website. It is just how they look in person though! The HP is a serious one. Must be a quarter of an inch deep!

Skip...don't expect any expansion from the Berry's HP. Unlike the Speer Gold Dot HPs that have the HP punched after the plating the Berry's is plated after the HP is formed. I have recovered bullets from the berm at our club and it looked like one could reload some of the recovered bullets. If you get any expansion it would be great to see a picture and how fast your load is moving.
I spoke to Berry's on the phone last week as we had put together a Club Order that saves a bunch of money. I was told they are so overwhelmed that they have suspended Club Orders...

I got a couple hundred ranier 335 gr. for a .500 S & W mag. from a friend who came accross some fired cases and bullets on a SASS board. I like them. They are very accurate from a Handy-Rifle. I will probably try some in .38 and .44 for my revolvers.

I bought a thousand bulk 200 gr. SWC Berry's in 45 about three years ago. Somewhere around one in 4 were actually 185 gr. SWCs. That kinda soured me on them.

Thanks for the heads up Ted. I was thinking of placing an order with them and may reconsider for right now. I'm just getting started with reloading for handguns and don't need any extra variables in the mix.

I shoot those same 50 cal Rainiers (335 HP)through a 16 inch barreled rifle at 1900 FPS (50 Beowulf).
They are accurate and dont come apart, and are sold by the rifle manufacturer as one of the factory loads. I have a thousand of em here I like em so much.
