Default Help in finding age of my S&W

Hy everyone, I am new here and have question that surely new friends are able to clarify.
I have an old .38 SW belonged to my father and most probably to his father, both unfortunatelly deceased. I would like to discover it's age.
The serial is 192xxx, no letters before or after. 5"barrel, round butt, with 5 screws on the frame (one in the trigger guard and four on the side frame).
Attached is a picture.
Thank you!

rauled, welcome to the forum. Your gun is a .38 Military & Police Model of1905, 3rd change.. It's caliber is .38S&W Special, not .38S&W. It was made in approx. 1912, give or take a year. From your picture, I would say that's a 6 in. barrel ( measure from the front of the cylinder to the muzzle) Hope that helps, Ed SWCA #15

Welome to the Forum. I don't have my books with me, but can look it up when I get home, if someone else doesn't come up with it first. That is a nice hand ejector. With family history.

Thank you my friends, for your kind answers. Appreciate.

I will ask Roy for a factory letter, to improve it as a family relic.
Itīs hammer is broken, however action is not affected. I am not sure if I should repair, or leave as it is.
I tested it with standard .38SW ammo and the shot precision is surprising. It can hit a 45 feet target as my new glock do.

I am sure that it has not shot since, at least 1978, and still in very good conditions. Trigger is very light and the cilinder positioning is perfect.

Thanks again!
