Letter for antiques?
Do records go back far enough to obtain a letter for an antique such as a Model 1?

Josh
Roy Jinks has can letter most anything Smith & Wesson. I have letters on every Smith & Wesson I own, from New Model #3's to a Sigma .380.
When I buy a new to me S&W, I add $50.00 to my final cost and obtain a factory letter. I hope this helps.

Yes, Model one's will usually letter and 99% of the time the letter will say shipped to J.W.Storrs, NYC, S&W sole agent at the time and the date shipped. Many of these guns are found with after market inscriptions indication association with a civil war unit or soldier, etc. A large % of these inscriptions
can be suspect, if not outright bogus, due to the ship date being months or years after the civil war ended. Ed.

So is it worth it to get a letter for a model 1, if they all went to the same NY distributor? Is there a chance of getting any extra info?
I thought the letters were $75, or are they discounted for SWCA members?
Thx,
JP

A factory letter is $50. Better yet, if you join SWCA for $60 you can get a shipping date from Roy Jinks through this Forum.
