Given to me by my grandfather. Serial number 178417. It has 3 dates on it... august 4th 1885, april 9th 1880 or 1890 cant really tell. Break top, pearl handle on both sides. uses 38 shorts. some history on the gun would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum! We need more info. to correctly identify your gun. Is it a safety hammerless model or does it have a visible hammer, that you can cock in single action of fire double action? Is it a square butt or round butt gun? Can you post a pictures? Ed.
