Default Please help identify a LNIB antique Smith

We have obtained an antique Smith. I believe it is a 1 1/2 model, early issue with a serial number of 533. The gun is practically new, with very little corrosion. We would like to properly market this piece, does anyone have any ideas on what exactly it is and what it is worth?

Smith and Wesson model 1 1/2 in .32 S&W centerfire. Excellent condition. I think $1000+
Here's one that's not nearly as nice that they are asking over $700 for:

Collector's Firearms

If the mechanic's are as good as the appearance twaits is probably very close to the value. Only an auction marketed to the appropriate audience will tell you for sure. The condition appears excellent, and the fitted case is very scarce also. Go to Little John auctions, Poulons Auctions, or Rock Island Auctions. I believe they list previous auctions and what prices were obtained. You may find similar items.

I personally feel the one at Collectors Firearms is overpriced due to the condition, and would think it would be more in the $350 to $450 range. I have a couple of these, and have not paid anywhere near that price.

Here are two mod 1 1/2 CF of mine which I didn't pay over $300 for either one.

H Richard,

I agree that that one in the auction link is overpriced. I think their percentage of finish is a little off. Nickel always looks worse than blue if it has any specs of rust on it. The OPs looks pretty incredible. Maybe even unfired.
I love the two you have. Those mottled red grips on the blue one are very interesting and pretty.
I don't think I've ever seen that style of "S&W" monogram that is on the grips on the nickel one. Do the Mottled red grips have the same style? I can't really tell.
Sorry..OP didn't mean to hijack your thread!

Very nice 1-1/2 centerfire. This model is very well made, well, aren't all Smiths? Yes, but I am very impressed with this model. You will note that the pictures shown in the replies show a strain screw, a little screw in the front of the grip strap near the bottom. This was used to adjust the main spring tension. Yours, being early with SN 533 does not have this screw. The main spring tension was adjusted with a cam device located inside the frame under the grips. I think this makes yours worth more than another, but later, 1-1/2 in equally good condition. I'm not a good judge of value. It is hard to keep up and I hate to think of these going for big prices, but I think I would want at least $600. With the great case it could well be worth more.

If this was on Gunbroker with a "Buy it Now" of $600 it would be snapped up in less than an hour.
