Smith & Wesson Model 1
I recently bought a S&W Model 1 3rd issue in .22 short at an estate sale and I was wondering if you guys knew of any ammo I can safely use in this gun, it seems to be in great condition and I would like to at least fire it a few times but I'm scarred of modern .22 shorts as this gun was made to fire .22 shorts loaded with blackpowder. Any ideas guys?
Also if anybody knows where i can get some grips for this gun i would be very thankful as it has a set of "homemade" grips and i would love a set of original looking ones.
Thanks,
Jeremy

If the gun is tight and locks up solid, you might try some CCI CB Shorts. (If you can find any.....)
I wouldn't make a habit of it, however.

Heres a few pics if anybody is interested
Nice sharp hammer
The worst spot on the whole gun which i suspect is from blackpowder ammo
The "homemade" 3 piece grips

I was told that even CCI CB shorts were too much for these. I bought some but decided against firing them in mine. CB caps or BB caps that have only primer for the propellant is what I've been told to fire in it.

I'm thinking that i might go for the BB caps they seem like the best idea and I think I might feel more comfortable firing more than 2 or 3 through it. I just wish they weren't $25 per 100
