The tag at the gun show today called this a lemon squeezer and I was hoping somone could clear up the details for me.
I think it's in 38 S&W and that;s about all I know.
The serial number is 888xx

The picture is of a 38 Safety Hammerless, Third Model, shipped from the factory between 1894 to 1896. These were nicknamed Lemon Squeezer due to the backstrap safety bar that required you to squeeze the grip in order to fire the gun. This is considered an antique by the ATF. There were many manufactured (over 260,000), so the value is not that high.
I've got one in 32 S&W with a SN830**. Its still part of the first series, and it still shoots! It's the kind of gun you had better be close to hit some one, but it was & is a safe pocket pistol. Mine is nickle.
