Wingmaster, whilst the serial number is missing from the barrel address, as it is a Tula military contract, the number will also be found on the cylinder and on the bottom of the butt, pics attached of 2555 as an example. When the German Ludwig Loewe contracts finished, the Russians purchased the gun making machinery from Loewe and installed at Tula.I used to own serial number 33 dating from 1886, which is illustrated in Jinks and Neale, the last known year of production is 1896 in the 31,000 range, I say 'known' as none others have surfaced later than 1896. Easy to ascertain the start but not so simple for the last year in the absence of factory records
For your revolver dated 1890 the number should sit in the lower 20000 range.
Value wise S&W collectors will pay more for a S&W manufactured revolver, however having owned a few over the years, in USD from $1000 upwards, depending on condition, most are around $2000, something exceptional will always fetch top price
Wingmaster, if you ever decide to part with it , I will always trade you a S&W
, as I collect mainly military contract S&W's including the licence made revolvers
Hope that helps
David
